[SOLVED] Windows Server 2012 Standard failing all updates

This fix will require a reboot:

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

Ok we seem to be getting somewhere now. I just have one update that keeps failing now

Internet Explorer 11 for Windows Server 2012 for x64-based systems
error code 80070002

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Try updating the system just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as it fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and provide the link to the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace.

Hi!

Can you please do the following:

Click on Start, type in %temp% and search for IE11-neutral.Downloaded.cab’ and ‘IE11-neutral.Extracted.cab .

If you find them, let me know.

There should be a subfolder called IE something (IE1CF18.tmp for example) which contains it.

If there is still nothing, please restart the IE11 install, but this time use a standalone installer and when it gets to the point where you get the Install Internet Explorer 11 prompt, recheck the temp folder again.

I downloaded the standalone installer and kept searching the whole of C: drive for "IE11-neutral" but nothing returns.

When I open %temp% it takes me to "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\3" which is completely empty. If I browse back to "C:\Users\dbadmin\AppData\Local\Temp" it has a few items in it, but nothing called "IE11-neutral" in the whole directory

The standalone installer failed by the way

I know it failed. The reason being the fact that a particular file is missing from the package. That's why I'm asking. We need to figure out a way to get the file to the directory it wants it in so the install goes through or we can stop here. Whichever you wish.

Thanks for the article. I followed it and tried to run all the steps, however this is the problem I'm having:

I was able to set link but when I got to step 1, the only prompt I see it the one attached. Regardless of whether I search before or after I click "yes" I cannot find any folders starting with "IE".

I have search in C:\Windows and %temp% which takes me to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp

Not sure what to do now
