  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.

Note: This may take some time to complete. Please be patient.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.

Your fix came in earlier than I could restart and retry update.
Funny, the oldest rollup installed successfully without your fix; I'm restarting the server now.

2022-09 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2012 for x64-based Systems (KB5017370)
Installation date: ‎26-‎11-‎2023 22:47
Installation status: Succeeded

This was BEFORE your fix and after restart!

Do you still want me to apply your fix, before I proceed trying to install all other rollups?

Yes please.

After restart, tried to apply all pending updates; old rollups and IE11 update KB4492872.

...so I guess that went initially WELL!

However, it took the server 5+ hours to get to this screen.
Now I'm afraid that the restart of the server will take ages as well. Should I be worried?

Best to install updates one at a time. For now, go ahead and restart.
After the restart check Windows Update again and report the result.

Just checked; the update-process last night took almost 6 hours.
In that same time a CBS-log was created of 1,8Gbyte, containing 7,7million lines.:eek:

Luckily, I didn't see big warning-signals.
Just wanted to be sure that the -pending- restart will not take 4-6 hours...

Going to restart now.

Probably due to the pending updates, nothing to worry about.

Not much we can do about that, besides installing 1 update at a time.

Fingers crossed...

Server came up quite well; it's now 18:27 CET so reboot took just a little longer than normally.

Checked eventlog and services; everything came up again without any worrying warnings.

Now "Checking for Updates" again...

AAAaaaaahhhh....and only the daily Defender-update came up.
So I guess my little 2012 Server is healthy again!
I am super-happy!

Dear PeterJ,
Beloved compatriot,

I am surprised about the speed and dedication in which you've been helping me with my problems.
Problems, I could not solve by myself anymore...

I'm left with only two questions;
1. Could you please tell me what went wrong and/or what you actually repaired?
2. I definately want to make a donation. Please tell me what would be reasonable by your standards.

Bye,
John
