Hello!

I have 2x identical 2022 servers that keep failing to update each month. I have done the usual steps to fix but nothing seems to work.

Error: The software change returned error code 0x8007000D(-2147024883).

2024-11 Cumulative Update for Microsoft server operating system version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5046616)

#This is a consistent issue every month

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,
J

Hi @JSaw,

Welcome to Sysnative Forums!

If you haven't already, please review the posting instructions here, and attach the requested log files. Without log files, our helpers will not be able to assist, and this will slow down fixing your machine.

If logs have been already been provided, our team of volunteers will analyse the provided log files to build a fix for your system. Please be aware that this may take several days from your initial post, due to the high volume of threads that we receive.

Morning all, I understand Xmas is coming up so gonna bump this one last time before the new year if anyone's free to help? Thanks

Hi,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hi,

Please do the following on Server1 only.

Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Afterwards attempt to update. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.

Thanks Maxstar, Server1 has responded well and has now updated. Ill attach the SFC Fix text file. It it the same case with Server2? And is this something that will fix future updates or will I have to apply fixes each month as this seems to happen often on these DC servers. Thanks.

Hi,

Glad to hear Server1 is up-to-date, and yes you can perform the same fix on server2 since the issue is exactly the same. Normally this issue when fixed will not cause issues with upcoming updates.

Let me know the result of Server2 as well..

You are a star, thank you so much, Server2 working also.

Glad to hear it worked on the second server as well. (y)
Then we can mark this thread as solved.
