[SOLVED] Windows Update and Device Manager Driver Update failing

As far as the direction in #11, I ran the Notifier.exe that was in that zip folder after unzipping and save to desktop. I received 2 windows. The first was asking if I was sure I wanted to run the exe. The second asked I was sure I wanted to allow the application to make changes to my computer. I answered yes to both, saw the mouse pointer change to a blue rotating circle for about 60 seconds before going back to the muse pointer.
None of my instructions mentioned to unzip and execute any files. Please follow my instructions properly otherwise I will not be able to help you with your issue. Have you now ran the SFCFix from post #11?

Now it is trying to update "Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2". I will let you know if it is successful in a bit.
If it fails, then please provide the latest CBS log(s).

How was I supposed to run the batch file from #11 if I didn't extract the files?

Either way, Windows Update 20H2 was successfuly installed after I followed your instruction from post #15. Things look a little differently now and Windows identified post 20H2 updates that are now dowloading / unstalling. I will let you know here if they complete or not

OK, Several updates were successful and Windows 10 is now on version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.1706)
However, I just rebooted and tried to run windows update again. It looks like it searches but then just stops without displaying updates but does display that I need important security and quality updates. I have attached a screenshot

Also, I have attached an updated copy of my CBS.log

Was I supposed to drop the compressed zip from #11 over the SFCFix.exe? My apologies if I didn't understand that.

Yes, as per my instructions mentioned in the preceding post. Please ran the SFCFix batch and then attempt to update again. If it fails, then please provide the entire CBS log folder.

Sorry for the late reply. Since there was a slight delay in response from posts on October 3rd (#22 & #23), I decided to try something else I learned about in a previous Google search. I tried this and it actually worked, getting me to Windows 10 Version 21H2. And, Windows update has successfully updated a few times then. If I have any more issues in the future, I will reach out. Thanks for all your help and again, sorry for the delayed response.

  1. Open File Explorer, type C:\$GetCurrent, and then press Enter.
  2. Copy and paste the Media folder to the desktop. If you don't see the folder, select View and make sure the check box next to Hidden items is selected.
  3. Restart your PC, open File Explorer, type C:\$GetCurrent in the address bar, and then press Enter.
  4. Copy and paste the Media folder from the desktop to C:\$GetCurrent.
  5. Open the Media folder and double-click Setup.
  6. Follow the instructions to start the upgrade. On the Get important updates screen, select Not right now, and then select Next.
  7. Follow the instructions to finish upgrading to Windows 10. After you're done, make sure to install available updates. Select the Start button, and then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.

I'm glad you managed to resolve the problem in the end. I've marked this thread as solved for you.
