Windows Update caused WinSxS files to be missing their components

What do you mean by attempting to update? Like to uninstall then reinstall?

I mean check for Windows Updates into the Settings > Update & Security screen to see if you are able to install the latest updates when available.

Open the Windows Settins screen by pressing the Win-key + I and open Update and Security and press the button Check for updates.

There is a Windows 11 22H2 that is downloading, but that is all I see.

Okay, this system was still running Windows 11 21H2 so hopefully the new feature update 22H2 will install without any issues this time.

Please try to update using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant.

Download the

Windows 11 Installation Assistant to your desktop.

• Right-click on Windows11InstallationAssistant.exe and select the option: Run as administrator.
• Press the Update now button, click after the compatibility check on Next.
• The Update Assistant will now download the latest Feature Update.
• After verifying the download, the Feature Update will be installed.
• When this process is ready, click on the Restart now button to complete the installation.

Download and run SetupDiag from Microsoft

• Download
  
  SetupDiag to your desktop.
• Right-click on SetupDiag.exe and select Run as administrator.
• When completed the following files are created: "Logs.zip, SetupDiag.exe.config and SetupDiagResults.log"
• Attach SetupDiagResults.log and Logs.zip to your next reply.

The program keeps having errors, and not completing the scan. Logs.zip doesn't show up. The SetupDiagResults.log is empty.

Do the following log files exist? If so please ZIP both files and attach the ZIP-file to your next post.
