Hi,

I have a corrupt windows 10 that can not update.
Tried sfc /scannow and dism /restorehealth and they do not give any errors.
I tried windows update troubleshooting , it did not help as well.
Finally run sfcfix latest version , it has run dism but it did not fix.
Expecting your help.
Please find attached scffix.txt

Why no one is replying?
I am digging and here is what I have so far.
Please find windows log errors from event viewer in evt format.
They have CbsPackageServicingFailure2 and WindowsWcpStoreCorruption errors.
Error log 7 is from system log , windows update error for KB5029244.

I will try again dism scanhealth and restorehealth , however I do not think they will help, since I had done them a couple of times before.

Hi,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

The problem still persists.
Please find attached related files.
I have deleted CBS folder before updating so it should more clear.

Has this system crashed recently or has the update process been interrupted? Because the extremely large number of missing / broken registry keys.

A couple of weeks ago ,there was a problem with hdd there was a bad sector, fixed it with DRevitalize. However there was also some chkdsk errors , and fixed them too. Still system did not boot always getting blue screen , previously I had the option of automatic registry backup enabled (generally disabling system restore for performance) , first restored software hive , did not work, then restored system hive and it booted. After sfc /scannow and dism fixes , now they finish without errros. Windows defender updates are being done ok but it is stuck at 762.516.144 Windows10.0-KB5029244-x64.cab update.
Always trying to do the same update and fails with 0x80073712 error code.

Thanks, as I suspected there are more problems with this system than just Windows Update issues..

Download

Crystal DiskInfo and save it to your Desktop.
  • Run the installer to install the program.
  • When finished, openthe installed program by double clicking on it.
    • Good - There are no problems found, the drive is working properly.
    • Caution - The drive have some problems. (which indicates a drive that you should most likely be thinking about backing up and replacing.)
    • Bad - This usually indicates a drive that’s dead or near death. (! - Back up all important data as soon as possible.)
  • Resize the window so that all information is visible.
  • Take a screenshot of what you see and post it in your next reply.

The drive is fine, actually I got it cloned to another drive and it is working on it, there is no problem with current drive.
I forgot to mention that before I restored software and system hive from regback folder, I had uninstalled latest quality updates , so that it would fix the boot problem but it did not.
Now, the current problem is probably I used software and system files from regback folder, with could be a bit out of sync with current installed windows files. There might have been windows updates happened later than the taken automatic registry backups. I can send you the problematic sofware and system files. You might want to see which updates they had compared to current one...

If you are sure that the System Drive is fine, I would suggest to perform a repair install. Also because you have replaced essential HIVE files yourself which caused the latest issues.
