[SOLVED] WINDOWS UPDATE ERROR 80070002 - IN PLACE UPGRADE DON'T WORK

Hi Roberto,

Fortunately, that error is purely because of a mistake I made in the script :) I have amended the script so try following those instructions again.

Hi Roberto,

Excellent! The SFC log is clear now :) Not quite sure where this has come from!

Code:
2013-09-06 19:07:15, Error                 CSI    000000da@2013/9/6:17:07:15.256 (F) d:\win7sp1_gdr\base\wcp\componentstore\installmap.cpp(620): Error STATUS_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT originated in function InstallMap::CRawInstallMap::GetComponentWinningVersion expression: (null)

Can you run the System Update Readiness Tool please? Post the log when complete:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Hi Roberto,

Hmm, the SURT still thinks that the file is missing:

Let's see if the SURT is wrong:

Hi Roberto,

The SFC log is finally clear! :) This error is still in your CBS log:

Code:
2013-09-07 07:51:38, Error                 CSI    000000da@2013/9/7:05:51:38.814 (F) d:\win7sp1_gdr\base\wcp\componentstore\installmap.cpp(620): Error STATUS_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT originated in function InstallMap::CRawInstallMap::GetComponentWinningVersion expression: (null)
[gle=0x80004005]
2013-09-07 07:51:38, Error                 CSI    000000db (F) HRESULT_FROM_WIN32(14098) #1613224# from Windows::ServicingAPI::CEnumCSI_COMPONENT::IEnumCSI_COMPONENT_Next(...)[gle=0x80073712]

But it gives no details about the problem, and neither does the CheckSUR log, so I have no way of tracing what is causing this. It will probably, but not definitely, cause you problems later on but until then the only thing we can do is ignore it. If you do start getting Windows Update errors just post back here and hopefully the CBS log will have more details on the problem :)

How is Windows Update behaving now? Still getting an 0x80070002?

Tom

Hi Tom,
Windows Update now works perfectly!
Your help was great, thank you very much!
If I'll see errors again I will post the logs.
Thanks again,

Roberto

Hi Roberto,

That's great news! You're most welcome for the help, it has been a pleasure working with you.

Sorry for the bad english,

Your English is excellent, by the way :)

Tom

Tom,

This is the first thread I've seen showing that the Windows Update 80070002 error can be fixed. I am having this same issue with my Windows 7 64-bit PC. Can you walk me through a resolution also?

Thanks,

richard
