Install Driver Manually

1. Click your Start button and type cmd in the search box.
2. Right-click on cmd that appears in the search results and select Run as administrator. Click Yes to the User Account Control dialog if it appears.
3. Copy/Paste the following into the command-prompt window and then hit enter on the keyboard. Note: You will need to right-click your mouse and select paste in order to paste into the window. You can't use the keyboard shortcut.

4. You will likely get a prompt that looks like the following. Please click "Install this driver software anyway".

  • Download FRST or FRST x64 and save it to the Desktop.
    (Please pick the version that matches your operating system's bit type. If you don't know which version matches your system, try FRST if it say that is not compatible with your OS you have to use FRST64)
  • Execute FRST/FRST64 right click on the icon

    and choose Run as Administrator. Make sure all other windows are closed.
    (When the Tool opens for the first time you must click Yes on the disclaimer.)

  • Press Scan button.
  • It will produce a log called (FRST.txt) in the same directory the Tool is run from.
  • The first time the Tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt).
  • Please attach both logs to your post.

Note: If FRST interface isn't in English please close it and rename the file to EnglishFRST.exe or EnglishFRST64.exe before doing the scan, to get logs in English.
 
So, today a new monthly update has arrived.
To install it, server need to install the processor driver version 20065
I tried to do it manually with the pnputil utility.
It didn't work for me.
The utility reported that the driver does not have a digital signature. I need to go and press Shift F8 during startup and turn off the signature verification of divers.
What other files do you need?

I have bad news for you, the logs show that you are using an Windows activation hacking tool!

I can only continue to work on this if you uninstall the tool used to bypass activation and install a proper activation key on the server.

By the way the last log show that another driver updated just fine, the problem is only with the cpu.inf because there is some reference to a missing/removed driver...
 
I tried again to install the 20065 driver on a copy of the server. I turned off the signature verification beforehand. The driver came with a warning as in post 42 and the update was also delivered successfully.

  • Download the file attached and save it to the Desktop as fixlist.txt
    (It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work!)
  • Execute FRST/FRST64 right click on the icon

    and choose Run as Administrator. Make sure all other windows are closed.

  • Press the Fix button just once and Wait. After the fix the system needs to restart if the tool does not request it please Restart the computer.
  • The tool will make a log (Fixlog.txt) on the same location as FRST/FRST64 please post it in your next reply.

Here's the result of my anguish with a 2012 server that doesn't have a digital signature of the processor driver running.

The OS cannot update the processor driver - monthly OS updates are not installed:(
When installing and updating such drivers, the digital signature of the OS is determined by entries in the registry.

There is corruption in the registry on my server and OS incorrectly detects the presence of a digital signature for CPU "driver".

Therefore, there is a long workaround...

IP KVM is not needed. F8 does not need to be pressed when booting. 😊

it is necessary:
  • Check what is already there, or copy the new driver folder to the C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository
  • Check what is already there, or copy the new driver folder to the C:\Windows\WinSxS
  • Check what is already there, or add the hive to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\DriverDatabase\DriverPackages
  • Fix values in section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\DriverDatabase\DriverInfFiles
I wrote "check availability" as when trying to install an update, the OS usually adds the necessary directories and entries.

After that, you need to install the driver from the C:\Windows\WinSxS directory and start the update installation.

Of course, with such manipulations, you need to have another server with a similar version of the OS at hand.

I was able to do all this remotely and without going to the client.
Of course, the best option in this situation is to reinstall the server.

I was getting there... In your case the problem was the reference to this driver cpu.inf_amd64_c864312ca632103f that didn't exist, I suspect it was forced to install using files from other machine or something like that!

The folder is empty. I did not understand what files should be in it, because I could not decrypt the HEX value of the “Version” key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\DriverDatabase\DriverPackages\ cpu.inf_amd64_c864312ca632103f

Such a folder is only on this server. I think it was some kind of intermediate version of the cpu drivers.

I adjusted the path to the current version of the drivers (before the update). Unfortunately, this did not work. Eventually I installed 2012 and moved the settings and files from into damaged server.
