Windows Update error 80073712 - Windows 7

Hi

Yes, you want to install from the downloaded ISO. I did omit a step in my instructions though. My apologies.

As it's a win7 system you will need to download a third party tool to mount the ISO image so you can see the contents to run the install files.

Please download WinCDEmu to your desktop and install this. Once installed navigate to your ISO file and double click.

This should create a virtual drive where you can access the files within the ISO. Look for setup.exe and run this file. This should start the installation process.

When prompted select option to keep your data and files.

There is a tutorial here on how to mount and unmount the ISO file.

Let me know how this goes.

Hi

I’ll have a look and come back to you.

Thanks

Hi

Due to the corruption of the COMPONENTS hive we need to repair the current installation of windows 7 first before we jump to win 10.

1. First you will need your product key -

Download Magic Jellybean keyfinder to your desktop. Double click this file, accept the agreement and default installation. Once installed it will open a window dialog box with details of your system. Take a note of the CD key value - this is your product ID.

2. Download windows 7 installation media. (If you have your original installation media you can skip this step)

go to the windows 7 iso download page here.
Type in your CD key value and select the product and language - yours will be Windows 7 Professional SP1.
Download the ISO file to your desktop.

3. Repair install windows 7

There is a tutorial here - please familarise yourself with this - particularly steps 7 onwards.
Double click the downloaded win7 ISO file and it should create the virtual drive again allowing you to view the files. Run the setup.exe file and follow instructions to repair install.
Make sure you choose option Upgrade.

Please let me know how this progresses or any questions you have.

Hi

Apologies for the delay.

When prompted for Get Important Updates for the installation please select the option Do not get the latest updates for installation.

Let's see if this will continue with the installation process.
