[SOLVED] Windows Update error code (0x800700c1)

@Maxstar here's the info from Windows update:

Also, I've tried to re-run sfc /scannow command and it's start to work again, stopped at 100% after last SFCFix run.

After that I've re-run DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth again, this time it stops almost at the end:

New CBS logs are attached as well

I've blurred the first screenshot because your email adress and name were visible.

Here's the next fix.

Step 1.
Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

@Maxstar it seems like it's all done,

DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth ended with a success message

sfc /scannow too

Each command located a single corrupted file and successfully recovered it from the store.

I've tried to re-run the update from a Windows Update center, now the error code is different: 0x80248007

Should I try to setup from the image?

This looks much better. So I would suggest to make a full system image before attempting to update or to perform a in-place-upgrade again.

@Maxstar I've done a try to do in-pace-upgrade and the same from an update center, still not working unfortunately: Windows 11 installation has failed.

Can I switch from Insider builds to regular updates, e.g. the latest 24H2?

After restoring from backup, at the moment when I started noticing update issues, I wasn't having Insider branch enabled, so I've reactivated it with a menu. Might it be the reason why it's not updating to the latest Insider update?

Current win version (winver): 22621.3880

Are you able to leave the DEV channel from the settings screen? (post #21)

@Maxstar I was able to switch to a Release Preview channel, installed a new update: KB5044380.

After that, PC restarted several times and it worked without any pending updates after the last reboot.

However, I remain unsure why there's no plan to upgrade to 24h2, especially since support for 22h2 has concluded.

I can't read the info on the screenshots, but checkmark in green says this system is up-to-date now. Are there any remaining issues?

It said everything went well and no pending updates. Will try to install an 24h2 from iso. Thanks for your help and spent time @Maxstar - you are truly a magician!
