Windows Update error leads to DISM error (0x800F081F)

Hello,

A clean boot is a temporary troubleshooting environment to help rule out possible interference from third-party software. Instructions to reverse the clean boot can be found in the link I provided in Post #17.

However - please ensure you are still in the clean boot environment whilst carrying out the instructions below:

Download the installer for KB3038936 and save the file to your Desktop. Attempt to install the update using the installer. If installation fails, please ZIP up and attach or upload the following files:
  • C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
  • C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log

Thank you.

Hi Excellion06,

Whilst still in a clean boot, please run Windows Update and attempt to install available updates. In your next post, please provide an updated list of the updates that failed to install.

Thank you.
