[SOLVED] Windows update failed to install update 1809 (error 0x80080008)

I dont understand, dont I need to download the update for this to work?
is there an offline installer?
 
1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
2. Accept the License Agreement
3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine, but disconnect the Ethernet cable and any peripheral devices.

We want to get the ISO so that you don't have to keep downloading which can take hours.
 
did all the steps you described and got the same error as I had before:
error 0xC1900101 - 0x4001E
"The installation failed in Second_Boot phase with an error during Pre_Oobe operation".
 
is it different from the 1803 update?
could you direct me to the latest service stack update for my version of windows?
also, is there a way to check current service stack version?

when I tried to install it said the update is not applicable on your computer, which I assume is because I have the update or there is some issue with the install.
please advise.
 
it gave me a message that its already installed on my computer so I guess I have latest version.
any other suggestion?

I've followed the following steps for 1809 creation tool, and downloaded 1809 iso:

unfortunately, exact same error as I had when installing 1803:
error 0xC1900101 - 0x4001E
"The installation failed in Second_Boot phase with an error during Pre_Oobe operation".

getting really frustrating.

Any additional steps you could recommend?
 
Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
