Windows Update problem (error code 80070246)

Welcome back. I've reviewed your info. Please do the following so I can get a fresh log.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for this to finish before you continue. Even if you get an error, this is considered finished.

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

I got a new problem: Yesterday I tried to install a program (online banking program) on this machine. The installation worked, but no matter what I do the program does not start. (It does start, but it crashes immedeatley) Could that also be because of the Windows registry corruption I obviousely have? Should I maybe try to run a Windows repair from original DVD? Or would that maybe delte files or settings on this computer? (Which would be a small desaster...)

It's possible its related. If you have a Windows 7 With SP1 x64 DVD, doing a repair install should definitely work and likely fix your issues and would also likely be the quickest route to a resolution. All of your data and programs will stay intact as well. You will have a ton of updates to install afterwards but this is minor. If you decide to do that, let me know.

If you want to continue to try and resolve without doing a repair install we'll continue. Looks like SURT found many issues and fixed them.

Personally I wouldn't until your logs are clear. I'll continue once I get the log from Step#2 above.
