Windows Updates Failures

KB3110329 and KB3102429. The second is optional but both fail through Windows Updates and an attempt at manual installation also fails on each. They are both extremely old updates as it seems the computer had never run Windows update

I'm sorry I thought I posted a reply....I'll have to get the KB numbers her shortly...they are both older updates from 2016 that still come up when searching though. I'll get them later today.

...really strange- I have one machine showing my reply and another that won't...different problem I'll sort out myself, but they are KB3110329 and KB3102429.

Sorry my replies were showing to me but I guess weren't going through as my sessions had timed out?...Anyway, they are 2016 updates KB3110329 and KB3102429.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Due to the specific nature of these updates I need to see both CBS.log and setupapi.dev.log, but start with one update. Don't attempt both simultaneously.

Finally getting back around to this if you are still available to help. I tried one update- KB3110329. I have attached CBS.log and setupapi.dev.log.

Well I would like to but this is a client of mine that probably won't be doing so anytime soon. I was more interested in fixing the problem for now since I had the time. If this is a hassle then I can move forward a different way. Thanks.

Understood.

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Try updating the system just like you have in the past, but select only one update.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as it fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and provide the link to the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace.
