XP BSOD (Bluescreen) - atapi.sys?

Put it in and reinstall windows and all the software.
WD and Seagate both have tools on their web site to clone the existing drive on to the new one.

I need to get one first.

I don't have any windows disks or anything. I do have an external drive if that helps?

We had a power cut yesterday. Now the machine won't boot ar all....

The screen just says:

Loading PBR for descriptor 2...done.

A disk read error occurred
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

Use your windows cd to access Windows Recovery Environment (WRE) and then do a chkdsk /r #: where # is the drive letter for your windows partition, then follow up with a fixboot (do not do fixmbr). You will want to use the recovery environment on the disk. Do not access the one from the drive (if you even can).

Otherwise, if those don't work, your power cut prolly just bugged out your drive/motherboard/psu.
