At approximately 6:22 PM MST our primary Data Center experienced an electrical transient. An Automatic Transfer Switch on one of our legs of power failed, causing some servers to lose power. Our systems are designed with multiple redundant sources of power, so that power is automatically transferred to keep your servers up. In this instance the switch failed and sent a spike back at one of our transformers, causing some additional problems. Our technical teams of Data Center Technicians, System Administrators, and power experts responded immediately and are working continuously to bring all our customers back online.
We have many redundant systems in our Data Center including backup generators and 4 different UPS legs of power. We test all our backup systems every two weeks and we perform regular maintenance on all systems by qualified personnel, all in an attempt to provide you the most reliable service possible.
We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding reliability and an outstanding customer experience. We realize that tonight the services we’ve delivered do not live up to your—or our own--expectations. We will continue to evaluate every element of this particular failure to eliminate the possibility of this occurring again.
We appreciate your patience and support throughout this issue. We welcome your feedback on how to continue to improve our platform and our services, as well as how we can better communicate with you in the future.
