Hi,
I got problem with SSD drive which stopped working few days ago. I managed with this problem by actualizing firmware and I could copy my data. Now I can see all data but Windows is not starting from SSD.Black screen appears with cursor (ctrl+alt+del not working) and there is nothing I can do except reset. Now i'm using windows from HDD.

I tried running in safe mode, startup repair, last known good configuration, repair your computer option (from drive and CD), there is no system restore points, recovery not working, tried to upgrade win 7 from CD/USB but a message showed that this is other language version of windows.

Command prompt chkdsk fix a few files.
sfc /scannow sfc scannow did not find any integrity violations.
Tried Command prompt bootrec.exe /fixmbr (succesful)
bootrec.exe /fixboot (succesful)
bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd (total identified windows installations=0)

Then a BSOD appeared caused probably by XHCI Host Controller Driver from ASMedia Technology (moved asmtxhci.sys from drivers folder to recycle bin and restart and new BSOD appeared Fatal system error STOP: c000021a 0x0000000 (0x0000001 0x000104F8).
Then I wanted to move back the file but recycle bin was empty even though the icon doesn't look so.
I checked regedit key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-MICROSOFT-WINDOWS NT-CURRENT VERSION-WINLOGON shell=explorer.exe

I'd like to avoid a new installation (WU,drivers, programs) beacuse don't know how long SSD will work (maybe all these methods failed because of SSD, if so it goes on warranty).

Windows 7 64bit Home Premium 6.1 (build 7601)

Any help appreciated.

Best regards
Mike P

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

Is the SSD listed as compatible with the mobo? Has the drive been tested?
BSOD was caused by your chipset drivers, so you could try updating them and see if it helps.

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

Thanks for reply.
I didn't write - SSD is Goodram CX-100.
Where can I check if SSD is compatible?
I ran MHDD and there were no errors.
How should I update chipset drivers - by Hirens or command prompt from Win CD/USB? Actually I'm running Win7 from HDD.

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

Sorry, but don't know how to check compatibility :(
Laptop specifications:
HTML:
https://www.asus.com/Laptops/N75SF/specifications/
i7 processor.

Downloaded chipset driver but I can't install, safe mode is not working on SSD. All I can is using hiren's CD or win 7 from USB and then command prompt, but I can't go to device manager. Drivers won't install from cmd.

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

SSD - normal or safe mode ends with BSOD.
HDD - I'm using to write

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

I have't erased chipset driver (as I've written it was XHCI Host Controller Driver from ASMedia Technology (asmtxhci.sys). I moved it to recycle bin - didn't know it will disappear.
As I wrote I can't upgrade install windows because I got other windows version (message in attachment)

EDIT: attach SSD smart and prtscr of recycle bin (icon is full but folder empty)

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

What about winsxs folder? Doesn't it contains driver files backup? If so, how to find it?

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

“There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again.”

When I launched Repair your computer and startup repair there was something like that:
"Access control list - 317 general causes. file ...\drivers\***.sys are incorrect. old value=0x0"

this message refered to all drivers (317) and under some of them was additional text like "repair after boot"

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

hello again
Nothing changed since last time, but...
I ran sfc again and now I got "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." Chkdsk didn't find any errors.
I attache CBS, crash dump and frst files. If anyone got any idea please share with me. I remind safe mode isn't working.

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

I tried Attempt Three: Nuclear Holocaust from https://neosmart.net/wiki/recovering...ws-bootloader/

I downloaded latest drivers but replacing files in system32/drivers and folder in Program files/ASMedia doesn't work. Installer setup.exe can't be run from command prompt. How about disabling or removing faulty driver instead of trying update.

There is a tool called Devcon.exe that could be used from command prompt but I don't know how to use it.

Re: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium - Boot problem

Launch bcdedit from an elevated command prompt, from the system partition of the SSD, then post its result here.

Here you go:
