Greetings,
I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8 to 8.1 to now 10 over the past couple of years. Very recently I started to experience that sometimes, applications will not open to the foreground, it just shows on the taskbar but will not come forth. Sometimes I have to minimize everything in order to see it at all, and sometimes, it just won't show. I get a lot of applications that open, and it instantly shows Not Responding at the top and the window flashes rapidly. Some games will auto minimize randomly, and I cannot re-maximize it again. I would have to kill the process, and restart it. Very annoying.
I scoured the web for answers and people tend to point toward running sfc. So I did -
C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>
CBS.log is attached here. View attachment CBS.zip
I also searched the web to see what happens when there are corrupt files but unable to fix. Almost all points to running DISM - so I did -
I ran a couple of commands, all of them led to the same results where "Source" could not be found:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
C:\WINDOWS\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:E:\Sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess (I found an ISO of Windows 10 and pointed toward it)
Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.10586.0
Image Version: 10.0.10586.0
[==========================100.0%==========================]
Error: 0x800f081f
The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.
The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log
C:\WINDOWS\system32>
Here's the DISM.log. View attachment dism.log
Outside of that, I ran anti-virus, malware, CCleaner, and all to no avail.
I'm running out of ideas. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!
Justin
