Hello, hoping someone can help solve this problem of bsod.
sfc shows errors it can't correct.

tried posting the cbs file here but guess I don't know how. I selected the file and chose the file. The only option wss "open" and then the rar file showed up in the download box as a cab file with an exclamation point showing error.

I used the attachment icon and the manage attachments and can not get a rar file to show up at all.

have had different error messages over the last month but memory management has come up four times.

I have an intel ssd 180 gb and windows 7 pro.

I deleted netframe 4 and then installed netframe 4.5

guess first thing is to get the cbs file showing up here.

Hello orogle and welcome to Sysnative!

Export CBS.log

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and then click Computer
  2. Double click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder, and then inside that folder, the CBS folder
  4. Right-click on the CBS.log file, and select Copy. It may show as just CBS (without the .log extension). Do not be concerned, and proceed to copy the file.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a file on your Desktop called CBS(.log)
  6. Right-click on this file again, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder
  7. Another new file, also called CBS, but this time with a different icon, will be created. Please upload this new file to the forum, here

Hi orogle,

Your CheckSUR log is showing one missing package that I can't seem to trace so I will need to trace it manually on your system before we continue. I doubt it is the cause of SFC hanging, but you never know!

Upload a file to Dropbox

Note: If you prefer, the same techniques can be applied to your Skydrive however these instructions may not necessarily work for Skydrive.

  1. If you haven't already created a Dropbox account, please do so Here
  2. Although this procedure can be done directly through the website, it is much easier to do so via the Windows client which can be downloaded from the Dropbox website:

    https://www.dropbox.com/install
  3. After you have downloaded and installed that, you should now see Dropbox in your Favourites box in Windows Explorer. This is the folder that will be synchronised with the Dropbox servers, anything that you wish to back up online can be put in here, but today we will be using it to transfer files.

    Favourites%20list.PNG

  4. To access your Dropbox folder, just click on the link in the top left hand corner of Windows Explorer (accessible from any location - Documents etc.). Alternatively, you can double click on the icon
    icon.jpg
found in your system tray (next to the time). If you are still having issues locating this folder, unless otherwise specified, it can be found under this location: C:\Users\{Your username}\Dropbox
  5. Copy all of the following files to the Public folder in your Dropbox:

    • C:\Windows\system32\config\components

  6. Select all files by pressing Ctrl+A then right-click and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder
  7. This will create a .zip
    zip_icon.png
    file in your Public folder.
  8. Right-click on this file and select Dropbox > Copy Public Link then Paste (Ctrl + V) this link into your next post for me please

Hi orogle,

I have asked for help sourcing this package as I've never seen anything like it before. I will post a fix as soon as possible.

Tom

Tom:
Ran sfc out of curiosity today and it made it through:
made a copy of the cbs file:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/68981804/CBS.zip

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time. Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 100% complete. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log C:\Windows\system32>

Hi orogle,

That's good to hear! Not entirely sure what's changed to allow SFC to run but I can't complain at unexplained success.

Hello orogle,

Thanks for the log. I hope you don't mind me editing your post but you were missing one of the code tags which I have added as it makes the text easier to read.

Strangely, two of the files couldn't have their permissions restored so I would like to do this manually. Could you zip up and upload the following folder please:

C:\Users\{Your username}\AppData\Local\niemiro

not sure what happened here:

Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

The fix Tom posted to you fixed it :) The fact that SFC no longer details errors is a good thing - it means the fix worked.

We have one more little step of cleanup to do which Tom or I will post to you, and then that will be the SFC problem resolved and the BSOD team will take over (Tom and I are Windows Update specialists - we don't really know very much about fixing BSODs hence better to call in others who do).

Richard

Richard: Thanks for the reply.

The reason I said I didn't know what happened was the last I heard Tom was going to fix two files manually and I was surprised when I ran sfc that those two files were now fixed without doing it manually.

I truly appreciate the hard work the staff puts in here helping solve problems.

Happy to help, Oliver :)

Without going into all of the technical details, in order to repair a file, we must first "unlock" it. For two particular files, the tool failed to reapply the locks at the end.

Therefore, even though the files are fixed, they are still unlocked. We have yet to re-lock them (something we will do manually). Please hang fire for a little while longer.

I will hang in there till the end without any problem at all.

The help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the explanation.

Hi Oliver,

Sorry for the delay. The issue in your CheckSUR log is proving a little more difficult than first anticipated due to the package your are missing is from a prerelease update that is no longer available so Richard and I have been discussing the possible solutions. Plus Tuesday is the main student night around here so I have been busy recovering this morning :)

As Richard previously explained, we need to tighten the permissions on the files that we have been altering so let's do that first. Can you download this file please:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/16537616/Permissions_v2.zip

Extract the contents to your Desktop. There should be two files, ngrACL and dllACL (neither of which have file extensions). Copy both of these files into the root folder of your hard drive, so that they are in the following locations: C:\ngrACL and C:\dllACL

    icacls C:\Windows\Speech\Engines\SR\en-GB\ /restore C:\ngrACL

    icacls C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ /restore C:\dllACL

  4. Right-click on the Command Prompt window and click Select All, this will invert all of the colours by selecting the text, now press enter. All of this text is now copied.
  5. Paste (Ctrl+V) it into your next post please.
