Hi,

Sorry for the delay - I have only just started taking on threads again.

Let's start by taking a crack at your SURT log.

Nothing too major here, just a selection of corrupt files from KB2838727 and KB2859903.

Code:
Checking Packages
(f) CBS MUM Missing 0x00000002 servicing\Packages\Package_1_for_KB2838727~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.2.1.0.mum

There are no manifest or packages directories under the C:\\Windows\Temp directory???

Hi,

Are you sure you are looking in the correct place - they are not in the root of C:\Windows\Temp\ folder, but in the CheckSUR folder.

If not, please run SURT again first to recreate the directories.

Stephen

Fantastic, log looks clear.

Try Windows Update again

Hi,

OK then... Since SURT is reporting no issues any more, let's move on to the next tactic.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Hi,

Please can you do the following...

Remove IE10, then reboot:

How to Remove IE10 and Get Back to IE9 on Windows 7

Remove IE9, then reboot:

How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9?

Install IE9, then reboot:

Download Internet Explorer 9 - Microsoft Windows

Install IE10, then reboot:

Download Internet Explorer 10 - Microsoft Windows

Stephen

I cannot uninstall by the regular methods because I installed those versions of IE via downloaded *.exe installation files and the system restore points have been overwritten.
Any other suggestions?

Hi,

Are you sure that IE 10 is not listed in the View All Updates list. Please check again - it should be there.

Also look it Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all versions of IE listed. Click Start --> Type appwiz.cpl

Can I have a Speccy Report to see the installed programs and updates. Please download and install Speccy by Piriform - Speccy - Standard. Open the program, wait for it to gather all of its information, and click

File --> Save Snapshot

Choose somewhere to save the file and press OK. Then zip the file and upload it to your next post.

Please can you find this file:

C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log

Zip it up and attach it to your next post

This is weird - there is nothing in the logs that is standing out to me.

I have asked another expert to take a look. However, he is currently very busy with exams and may take a few days in getting back to me.

Hi Scrubsja

After reviewing this with another expert, you have a very weird case here. There is nothing shown in any of the logs that helps us...

One suggestion though - please navigate to:

C:\Windows\TEMP\

And delete the following file: IE1B758.tmp

Not sure if it will help, but worth a shot!
