SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC Scan

  1. Press the Windows Key on your keyboard and X to open up the Power User Tasks Menu
  2. Click (or tap) Command Prompt (admin)
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue (approximately 15 minutes)

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Stephen

here is the second
not because the new file cbs.txt could not make the upload
then we change the name to copia.txt, but I could not make the upload
so did the copia.rar that is attached
I hope there are no problems
again thank you very much and I look forward to your prompt response

That looks perfect, my fix went through perfectly. All the corruptions have now been fixed :)

Stephen

this is so perfect
a question this solution is final?
or it may come again?

Anyway, many thanks for all

Regards

Manolo

Hi Manolo,

I would not expect you to experience this issue again. However, if it does, just start another thread and upload your CBS folder as before. But this is very unlikely to occur, so don't worry about it. :)

You're most welcome, glad I could help you.

Stephen

one last query

all this trouble appeared by the explorer
and now after we've fixed this yet super slow, when I want to copy or move any file takes a lot

you who have so much experience that you recommend that I can do to improve this

and everything began to change from windows 7 to windows 8.1

Hopefully you can help me once again

Thank you very much for the prompt reply

I commented that the disk where Windows is installed is new

buy it to install windows 8.1

question the link to download

1. Download SeaTools (for DOS) -> SeaTools for DOS | Seagate

send me to a page where indicates that is compatible to windows 7 and it says nothing about windows 8 or 8.1

Like what I do?

no problem?

or is there a version for Windows 8.1?

I look forward to your response
thanks

Regards

Manolo

Hi,

Good question. SeaTools loads before Windows boots, so is in fact compatible with Windows 8.1.

Stephen

I did the procedure

but when you start says there is no hard disk

I've tried 3 times with the same result

I saw that on the Seagate page there is a

SeaTools for windows and that it is compatible with windows 8

is the same or better the DOS version?

I look forward to your response
thanks

Hi,

This is because SeaTools requires the HDD to be configured in a compatibility mode to work. This is not the default configuration for Windows 8.

In the UEFI, you will need to change the HDD mode from AHCI to IDE. Then boot and run SeaTools. After the test is finished, reboot into the UEFI again and change it back. Then boot into Windows as normal. Windows will not boot in IDE mode, so remember to change it back.

If you have issues with this, let me know. It is hard for me to be more specific, because I do not have a Windows 8, or a UEFI system to test it on!

Stephen

Thanks again

It works and

the results are

Short DST without errors
Long Test without errors

Short DST passed
Long Test passed

I look forward to your response

thanks

Manolo

thank you very much for the reply I'll try it and you notice the results thanks again

download and use
ShellExView - Shell Extension Manager For Windows

disable all non-Microsoft shell all extensions

but the problem persists and is not as serious as before
but just delay to copy, move, or delete files
and when I empty the recycle bin sometimes everything on the screen disappears and reappears after a moment

Not that you would recommend for my case

since I installed windows 8.1 pc in general is too slow
thanks
I look forward to your prompt reply

Regards

Manolo

Was this system designed for Win8.1? Does the manufacturer offer 8.1 drivers?
What is the exact make and model of the system?

Update (at a minimum) to Win8.1 compatible versions of these drivers:
- chipset
- storage
- video
- network (wired, wireless, etc)
