My wife and I had were having a little debate... I had mentioned that I was trying to create a simple GUI (GEE-YOU-EYE) using Visual Basic and Visual C++... She (the programmer) had to "correct" me and told me "What?... It's GOOEY"...

So, I did a quick google and found no discernable answer, so I figured I'd ask you all here...

Is it "GEE (G)- YOU (U) - EYE (I)" or "GOOEY"?

They are both the same.... You just learn to care less what others say :lolg:

I normally use GUI(G-U-I)...

I have multiple professors who will use one or the other but they are all talking about the same thing...
The only time I think naming really matters is when you are talking about a specific thing such as SQL...

However, even with that I use both SQL(S-Q-L) and sequel depend on the context.

Just stay true to your roots... people will know they are one and the same :grin1:

This is just a topic of debate between my wife and I... I will always use the phonetic spelling to describe it... She will always be gooey! We are very competitive!

I prefer saying "Graphical User Interface" so there is no misunderstanding by you [somewhat] younger guys.

You prefer graphical user interface because you would misinterpret G.U.I. for something naughty.... :roll eyes (sarcasti

I've always pronounced "GUI" as gooey, most likely because that was what was used at work. Conversely, I've always said S-Q-L and M-BAM.

It is definitely "Gooey" traditionally sorry to say lol. Wife is right (Damn it hey? hahah) I call it G-U-I instead of Gooey sometimes as well as I know it's what most others call it, but that's incorrect. Probably more accepted now that it's become more standard for people to call it G-U-I over Gooey though.
