[SOLVED] First Post - Windows 7 Update Failure

Ok, I think we are almost done.
Restart the machine, check Windows Update again and report the result. Don't install any updates yet.
 
Two screen shots are attached. Important updates with 6 listed and my TEMP folder where I've kept track of every update attempted and installed.

Try to install KB890830 only and report the result.
I think we should ignore the other ones.
 
I ran KB890830, which is just a malicious software removal tool. It ran and did not detect anything.
 
Ok. This update may arise again from time to time with another version number. This is normal.
Any remaining issues left ?
 
I'm working with AutoDesk regarding AutoCAD and still don't have it working yet.

The only other thing is the file security warning dialog (attached) that I get whenever I run Windows Explorer or Notepad, and possibly other basic Windows apps.

Otherwise it seems to be working well.

Open an elevated commandprompt.
Copy and paste following command into it, then press enter.
fsutil hardlink list c:\windows\explorer.exe
When completed copy and paste following command into it, then press enter.
fsutil hardlink list c:\windows\notepad.exe
Provide a screenshot of the commandprompt window.
 
Zip and attach the files c:\windows\explorer.exe and c:\windows\notepad.exe.
 
Start the program C:\Windows\System32\sigverif.exe.
Click the button Start.
When the scan is completed, attach the file C:\Users\Public\Documents\sigverif.txt to your next reply.
 
SIGVERIF file is attached. Also a screen grab of a message after running the app.

I also was able, with help from AutoDesk, to get my AutoCAD LT 2014 running again. About the only other question is regarding the Java Update message that always pops up when I restart. Should I install?

I did another system image last night with the working AutoCAD.
 
Great that the AutoCAD issue is solved.
Please do following to investigate the file security warning.

Download Sigcheck by SysInternals and save it on your desktop.
Extract the zip file.
Tell me the full path where the file sigcheck.exe or sigcheck64.exe is located.
 
Open an elevated commandprompt.
Copy and paste following command into it, then press enter.
cd C:\Users\MEK\Desktop\Sigcheck
When completed, copy and paste following command into it, then press enter.
sigcheck64 -i c:\windows\explorer.exe > 1.txt
When completed, copy and paste following command into it, then press enter.
sigcheck64 -i c:\windows\notepad.exe >> 1.txt
When completed attach the file C:\Users\MEK\Desktop\Sigcheck\1.txt to your next reply.
 
The log is partly unreadable.
It does show the file c:\windows\explorer.exe is signed.
Please do following.

Warning: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Do not run this script on another machine.
  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Attach the logfile Fixlog.txt to your next reply.
