[SOLVED] [10v1607b14393 x64] Can't upgrade to 1703/1709. No any new driver (0x800703f1)

Good.

1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
2. Accept the License Agreement
3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

We want to get the ISO so that you don't have to keep downloading which can take hours.

I upgraded from the ISO and got pretty far, further than ever before I think: "We're preparing your PC" "Getting a few things ready". After "It's taking longer than expected, but..." the screen became black and nothing happened. After two hours of no hard disk activity I rebooted. Now I'm able to login but after that the screen is black again with the mouse showing but not more happens.

Is there a chance to get it running?

Edit: It's not really stuck, I can still access the Ctrl-Alt-Del screen and reboot and so on.

Yes, I'm sure we can get this working. First try the following.

1. Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL, select Task Manager
2. Select File...Run New Task..., type explorer in the Open text box and click OK.

Let me know what happens.

Unfortunately, the task manager will not show up. Just the mouse icon changes to "working/calculating" for some seconds and then gets back to normal.

No problem. Hold the shift button down on your keyboard and then restart machine. Don't let go of the shift button until the recovery options come up.

Click Troubleshoot...Advanced Options...Startup Settings and then click Restart

The Startup Settings screen should come up. Hit number 5 on your keyboard which should be "Enable Safe Mode with Networking"

Let me know if it comes up in Safe Mode.

After logging in in safe mode, the same thing happens, the screen stays black.

Reboot back into recovery options and do the following.

Troubleshoot...Advanced Options...System Restore...

Let me know if any restore points are detected and what they are.

There's only one restore point from two hours ago - "Windows Update"

You mean the recent issues? Yes, I believe this was caused by the in-place install/update from before. Not before the other update issues of course.

I initiated the process but it will take some time and I should go to bed. Thanks so far, I will report back tomorrow.

It already finished. Unfortunately, the black-screen problem has survived the restore :( Something else I can do?

Sorry, I checked out once you said you were going to bed. Let's try a few other things. Get back to advanced options....troubleshoot....advanced options....Go back to the previous version

No problem. I reverted to the previous version and can login successfully again.

Thanks. Please download the following file. The name of the file is drivers
Dropbox - drivers

Take this file and overwrite the one in c:\windows\system32\config

Please let me know when complete or if you need more instruction on how to do this.
