643 installing KB2901983, KB3122661 and KB3127233

Alright :) Go back in your Windows Update control panel and click on Check for updates. Are the three same updates found?

Install all of them, except for .NET Framework 4.5.2. If they fail, upload the two files below for me to review.

C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Which update is left to install now? What's the KB number?

I'm not sure, it's hung? I tried clicking stop installation but it doesn't seem to work.

Looking into update history, I bet it's the silverlight update that was keeping me from renaming that Download folder.

I thought that every updates installed, but one. Is it the case now? Is the KB3126036 the only one left to install?

Those two screenshots are still exactly what's happening. Windows update is no longer updating and is likely frozen. I'm just going to check installed updates, but it looks like it's either hung on the internet explorer update or the silverlight one. And both 4.6.2 updates have failed to install...

Okay, so, the only update that is installed succesfully in "installed updates" is KB3035583

Okay, I killed the hidden silverlight process (that self-extracting cabinet again), and windows update stopped hanging. Here's what it looks like now:

Okay! I hope this isn't rude, but I did some snooping and tried this:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2608523
which fixed the install of the silverlight package.
Then I tried reinstalling the updates (without .NET 4.5.1) and still no dice.
So I thought, maybe if I downloaded the offline installer for 4.6.1 that might do it. So I used the one here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3102436 and that seems to have done the trick for the .NET updates.
With all those finally updated, it looks like the IE update has also gone through. I'm going to try the windows 10 installer here now and see if it works.

So you managed to install .NET Framework 4.6.1 even though it was installed? My guess is that the current installation was corrupt and that repaired it, this is what the 643 error code means when it comes to .NET Framework.

Let me know how to upgrade process goes :)

Hey! That sounds exactly like what was going on. So, no luck on straight up installing windows 10 (butts!). It, once again, ran pretty quick and then hung up on the cleaning up after itself screen. I left it overnight and no dice.
Here's what I have now, there's an update for internet explorer 11 that keeps saying it's installed successfully, but every time I restart it's back saying it's not installed. I don't know what KB it is, here's a prtscr:

Thank you so much for helping untangle this!

Do you have your Windows 7 installation media by any chance?

Hey, sorry about the delay. I don't, unfortunately, have my original installation media. I feel like I bought the computer preloaded, and maybe lost the install disks in a move.

So your Windows came with your computer, you didn't buy it and install it separately?

Follow the instructions below please.

Alright, you do have a Factory Image partition, which means that you can Factory Reset your system. However, this will erase everything and return your Windows to the state it was when you first bought your computer. After which you could upgrade to Windows 10 right away. This is one option.
