[SOLVED] [7SP1 x64] KB4041681 fails to install

Update installed! It configured the updates on shutdown (it requested a restart) and then again when it started. KB4338818 shows as successful in update history.

Good. Please post the CBS.log.

If you force windows to search for updates is lists more to install?

CBS.zip attached.

There are 20 Important and 2 Optional updates to install when I check.

Hi,

The log no longer show the error "0x80073712 - ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT" let's hope the problem is gone.

Try to install the Security Updates if it lists some updates labeled "Preview of..." right click and skip/hide them.

Please report the result. In case of errors report the KB number and any error codes.

I installed the Security updates, though they were for office products, etc - none for the OS. That seemed to go fine but then failed and refused to search for more. I got an error code of 8024402C but I think that's something to do with my WSUS server because searching for updates on Microsoft works fine.

About the error
Error code 8024402C: This error might be caused by a program running on your computer that's preventing Windows Update Services (SVCHOST) from accessing the Internet. Programs that might do this include firewalls, antispyware software, web accelerators, Internet security or antivirus programs and proxy servers.

Eventually the c:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log may provide some clues about the problem assessing the WSUS server.

Thanks for the info SleepyDude, I really appreciate your help too. Hopefully you can get some sleep now :)

Would you say the security updates are fixed now then?

I think so, it works fine searching for updates on the Microsoft servers but not locally using the WSUS server then you must check if something isn't right with the server or the client configuration. I manage the WSUS server at my work and I know sometimes it can gives some headaches especially if it was setup to provide updates for several different Operating Systems...

Yes, thanks Windows 10 LOL! Everything was fine until you arrived.

Yes especially because of the changes they made to the way updates are delivered and in the process I think they damaged things needed for Windows 7 and 8.1 users, it took several months to get that fixed...

You are welcome. Any contribution is appreciated.

Thank You.
