Re: [W7SP1 x64] KB4041681 fails to install

I've run the fix. Not sure if this is connected but I can't check for windows updates. I get a message saying that 'Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running'. The service is running, though I've restarted it, and I've restarted the PC too. I've also recreated the softwaredistribution folder so I'm not sure what to do now to fix it.

Re: [W7SP1 x64] KB4041681 fails to install

Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it and press enter.

Code:
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
Note: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Filedropper or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the download link.

Re: [W7SP1 x64] KB4041681 fails to install

Disable Automatic Updates:
Click Start > Control Panel > Security > Windows Update > Change Settings.
Select "Never check for updates" in the list.

Reboot the machine and undo the change above.
Does that fix the latest issue with Windows Updates ?
