[8.1Pro x64] Empty Windows Features dialog box

I see, please Cancel the update.

Open the Control Panel and the Windows Update configuration and change the option to Never.

Restart the computer and then try to install the update again please.

Ok.

- Please download the script WUList.cmd and save it to the Desktop
- Execute the script and wait, when finished it will open Notepad with a log named WinUpdates.txt that is also saved on the Desktop
- Attach the WinUpdates.txt log to your post

The list is empty!

If you check on the Control Panel, Windows Update, View update history it is empty?

Please run the Windows Repair Tool from post #24 this time only with the option: 05 - Repair WMI

After restart run the WUList.cmd script again to see if the list gets populated.

Please uninstall Avast and Malwarebytes. For now use only Windows Defender.

Without those programs installed repeat the steps on post #49.

Hi SleepyDude,

I removed the antiviruses and did the WMI repair, however the list still came up empty.

I tried running the command from your batch file (wmic qfe list brief) using the command prompt and the result was "No instance(s) available"

I'm not sure if it'll help, but I ran procmon while the WUList.cmd is running and saved the log View attachment Logfile.zip View attachment Logfile-All.zip

Hi,

Thanks for the trace log it shows some permission errors that should not be there!

Please repeat the steps from post #24 followed by WUList.cmd to see if it lists the installed updates.

Hi,

Brian spotted something strange in one of the logs that could explain the problems, lets see if we find the exact point that need fixing...

Export Registry keys

  • download the script ExportCBSRegistry2.cmd and save it to the Desktop
  • right-click the file ExportCBSRegistry2.cmd and select Run as administrator
  • when the script ends a new file called SoftwareCBS.zip will be located on the Desktop
  • If zip file is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. or upload to SendSpace and just provide the link for the file here
