[SOLVED] Another issue with upgrading to SP1 (0x80073712)

Excellent. There are still many more to replace but we should get an updated list of them. Please follow the instructions below.

Step#1 - System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

We were able to source some more but many of them we can't. Please run the following scan on your system and post the results.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Hi szega -

Unfortunately there are simply too many missing payload files to fix. Your best option would be to do a repair install. Do you have your Windows 7 (without service pack) install media?

Maybe I have it somewhere... do you belive that would work? If you don't have time to compose those fix packs I understand that, but it was fine with me doing step by step...

Yes I do believe that should work. It's really the only option at this point.

If you don't have time to compose those fix packs I understand that, but it was fine with me doing step by step...
It has nothing to do with the time that it would take to acquire the missing files. We've identified some files that we simply can't source. They were updates that came out and may have been pulled or revised so the update is no longer available to pull down and get the files. It's unfortunately but sometimes happens. I've even asked other helpers here at Sysnative and the they concur.

I see.
Then I will have a look if I still have that Win7 somewhere, and if I will find it will give a try.
Anyways, I appreciate your help, thank you very much.

So if I understood correctly, the pre SP1 Win7 installer I should just use for a reapair, follow the instructions what you linked and then I should be able to upgrade to SP1?

OK, let me know how it goes.

So, I made some free space on C:\, started to launch the WIN installer and an error message comes up that I can't downgrade from a 64bit sys to a 32bit and I can't upgrade from a 32 to 64 bit system.
Well, it's funny, 'cause I have 64bit installed, up and running for years, and now shows me this. And why does it show me both ways? Upgrade and downgrade too? I don't get it....

So to confirm the DVD that you have is a Windows 7 x64 DVD with No Service Pack correct? Do you know if it is Home, Premium, Professional?

It's Win 7 Ultimate without SP1, you can pick which version you want, I choose x64 always.

Can you provide the exact message that comes up when you try to run the installer?

A következő problémák akadályozzák a Windows frissítését.

Szerezze be a Windows-telepítőlemez 32 bites verzióját.
