[SOLVED] BSOD on W7 upgrade to W10 & in driver verifier, no dumps. FIX: FEW drivers (and devices) removed; TPKD was the last one which blocked the upgrade.

Unfortunately, no crashes from verifier over that time. Did disk clean, clean boot and got the same BSOD. SetupDiag log shows no failures. I will do a fresh install if it comes to it, but I'm holding out.

And is a dump available?

Re-try verifier with these parameters:
Code:
verifier /flags 0x00100fbf /driver amdxata.sys,atmfd.dll,btath_a2dp.sys,btath_bus.sys,btath_flt.sys,btath_hcrp.sys,btath_lwflt.sys ,btath_rcp.sys,btfilter.sys,e1c62x64.sys,hecix64.sys,iastora.sys,iastorf.sys,igdkmd64.sys,jraid.sys,lvrs64.sys,lvuvc64.sys,mv91cons.sys,mvs91xx.sys,mvxxmm.sys,ndis.sys,nusb3hub.sys,nusb3xhc.sys,nvhda64v.sys,nvlddmkm.sys,nvmoduletracker.sys,nvvad64v.sys,nvvhci.sys,rt64win7.sys,rtkvhd64.sys,scsiport.sys,tapwindscribe0901.sys,tpkd.sys,vhhcd.sys,vhhub.sys

Let me see the settings:
Code:
verifier /querysettings

Nope no dumps again :(

When performing the last windows upgrade was it done with the upgrade assistant, windows 10 iso on the desktop or a bootable windows 10 iso?

This is an upgrade checklist: (modified for upgrading 7 to 10)

Code:
UPGRADE CHECK LIST:
Run through this check list before the next upgrade attempt:

1) remove nonessential hardware
docks
USB devices
printers
headset
speakers
joysticks
projectors
scanners
plotters
portable optical drives (CD, DVD)
microphones
cameras
webcams
smartphones
bluetooth devices
USB drives (other than a windows 10 iso if used for the upgrade)
USB Wireless Mouse or Keyboard Receiver, USB Wireless Network Card
secondary monitors

2) These should be the only attached devices:
wired mouse
wired keyboard
monitor

Any of these that have been done in the past week are not necessary to repeat:

3) open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste: (repair file system)
chkdsk /r /v C:
This may take many hours so plan to run overnight
Find the chkdsk report in the event viewer using the information in this link and post into the thread:
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96938-check-disk-chkdsk-read-event-viewer-log.html

4) open administrative command prompt and copy and paste: (repair operating system)
sfc /scannow

When this has completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

5) update windows (have all recommended updates installed) and reboot after updates

6) List and uninstall all non-Microsoft antivirus software
(This includes always on and manual software.)
(This includes running the applicable antivirus uninstall tools for any AV that could have been incompletely uninstalled)
https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/2625/
(And this includes uninstalling Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) immediately before the upgrade attempt)

7) List and uninstall all non-Microsoft firewall software

8) List all Microsoft and non-Microsoft drive encryption software.
Uninstall all non-Microsoft disk encryption software

9) Run disk cleanup to clean temporary and system files
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/818-disk-cleanup-open-use.html

10) Create and verify that the drive has > 30 GB free space (At least 25 GB is needed for maintaining certain dump files)
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/129976-hard-disk-space-free-up-recover.html
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/274797-disk-management-post-screen-capture-image.html

11) Consider placing the computer in clean startup:
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/179159-troubleshoot-application-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html

12) Detach all SATA devices other than the disk drive that has the Windows operating system
(Make sure that the only disk drive that is attached to the computer at the time of the upgrade attempt is the disk drive containing Windows)
(Other disk drives may be able to be detached by disconnecting cables or if necessary to remove the drive from the computer)

13) Make sure that there is no metered connection: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17452/windows-metered-internet-connections-faq

14) Consider making a free backup image:
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/73828-imaging-free-macrium.html
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/218920-macrium-reflect-create-bootable-rescue-usb-drive.html

15) Test the drive:
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313457-seatools-dos-windows-how-use.html
Crystal Disk standard edition:
https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/

Sorry I forgot to run it from an iso. I can't do it on desktop since I was told to delete all my iso opening applications, forgot you could run an iso from a mem stick. I did the "install onto flash drive" and opened it in Windows since you can't use it to upgrade when it's the boot drive.

I'll do the things in that list then give it a go that way.

  • Hardware disconnected
  • Update windows: Installed all updates recently
  • No antivirus unless you count Malwarebytes. I believe all traces of old AV are gone by doing it manually a while ago, using uninstall tools didn't work for me. I never installed MSE.
  • No non-microsoft firewalls
  • No encryption software besides Samsung Magician which is not in use
  • Disk cleanup ran earlier today
  • Disk has space
  • Backup image has been made
  • Harddrive is very new and Samsung Magician scan is clear
  • No metering, all updates happen automatically
Will attempt upgrade with iso from usb stick with clean boot and non-essential SATA detached.

Correction: Am doing it with a desktop iso I opened with WinRAR, can't figure out how to do the boot option. I can make the installer on the flash drive but it tells me I can't upgrade with it.

SetupDiag collection
Who Crashed hasn't found any new crash logs since I did the cleanup of the drive, so not sure what the Sys collector will find.

I used desktop iso, using the flash drive option was giving me issues.
I believe the error message was the same as always:
"0xC1900101 - 0x40017, The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation"

I will be trying the repair option tomorrow :)

The iso was for a game, it's on recent files but that iso is deleted. I only got that driver software recently, I believe it updated some USB drivers and my ethernet. Ethernet I think it put to the wrong version but it was reinstalled earlier in this thread.

A lot of the listed drivers I was unaware of and had no use for anymore, or were not uninstalled properly (thought there was no trace of bazisvirtualcdbus when I looked earlier on Everything, sorry)

These I have kept:

xusb21.inf_amd64_b8916a1e19aec16a (oem17.inf) is my XBox wireless receiver
oemvista.inf_amd64_6f19c527a306dd1d (oem48.inf) is a part of Windscribe VPN
push2_display.inf_amd64_71951f00f0a6cd7d (oem32.inf) is a part of Ableton

I have no idea what those Bluetooth Peripheral Drivers are. When I was reinstalling my MOBOs bluetooth driver set, the devices (whatever they are) weren't given drivers and the Windows automatic search didn't find any for them. I don't see them on device manager now though after uninstalling the bluetooth drivers.

You have got Start Menu\Programs\WinCDEmu
(bazisvirtualcdbus, WinCDEmu Virtual Bus Driver, c:\windows\system32\drivers\bazisvirtualcdbus.sys)
You could be able to remove it from here: Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features - uninstall.

Open services.msc, set UMVPFSrv startup type to manual.

Reinstall webcam pro 9000, 2.51.828.0, 2010-06-10

I only had that start menu entry left, the rest of that app seems to be gone. UMVPFSrv set to manual. Webcam software reinstalled.

Then launch these commands:
Code:
sc stop bazisvirtualcdbus
sc config bazisvirtualcdbus start= disabled
sc delete bazisvirtualcdbus
del c:\windows\system32\drivers\bazisvirtualcdbus.sys
Let me know if something won't work.

First command said it's not been started (likely because I had it turned off for a clean boot)
disabled and deleted fine, .sys file couldn't be found because I've already deleted it.
