Z Wiz the update updated to my amazement, when I saw the message installation succeeded restart your computer I almost jumped out of my seat. This seem like an unsolvable problem but you proved that you are a highly skilled young man when it comes to solving computer problems.KUDOS TO THE ZCOMPUTERWIZ and your colleagues at the forum. I deleted the empty cab files now I will see if they will return after solving the update issue. I must give honor where honor is due.

Let's not celebrate just yet, that was for v23 - now let's hope v24 installs without issue. :)

Hello Z I ran the update and there were 2 updates that was pending for this month updates and they updated with no problem, the cab files still keep going the the c drive and not the windows temp folder, in fact the windows temp folder is always clean with no temp files lately, and that seems strange to me, but the major problem is solved by your good work.

What are the System Variables TEMP and TMP set to? It should be C:\Windows\temp

To check:
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variables...

Try stopping the Windows Modules Installer service and any other Windows Update services, then delete the contents of C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\ and C:\Windows\Temp\
Once that is complete, restart and check for updates again.

Let me know if the cab_ files reappear.

The cab files is still the on the c drive and I notice the system variables do not have the Temp or Tmp or c:\Windows\temp set
