12. Once the fixes are complete you will be prompted to restart your machine. Answer Yes.

Okay. I've completed it. So do I see if Windows will update or do you want me to run the Fix it program?

Let's see if windows will update now. So please check for updates. Please keep in mind that the first time we try this it will take a long time as the windows update cache needs to be repopulated since we ran a few fixes. So don't be alarmed if the first time takes awhile before it shows updates that need installed.

Thanks.

I let the computer check for updates for an hour and 45 minutes and it still is in the cycle with no results. So we need to try something else. Thanks.

After 6 hours it finally stopped and showed 101 updates. I started with one update. It was a security update for Explorer 8. It installed fine.

I went to the next which was an update to Silverlight. I let it run for an hour and it would not install. It just stayed in a "loop".

I then went to the next which was a security update. I let it run for 5 hours and it would not install. It just stayed in a loop.

It looks like we are making progress but aren't there yet.

Excellent. Many people let it run overnight and then finally updates will show up. The first time after certain fixes will take a long time. What is the KB number of the updated that won't install? Not the Silverlight one but the other security update?

Thanks.

I tried to install KB3127220 and let it run for an hour. It wouldn't install. It just stayed in the loop.

Thanks. Please do the following.

Step#1 - System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Okay. It ran with the clean boot and installed a hot fix. What do I try now? I haven't rebooted or tried any updates. Thanks.
