Can't install any Windows Updates, nor Windows 10 upgrade

Where are we headed with this? Is there something in particular you're looking for? I'd prefer to not be uploading this.

I need that to fix these lines:
(f) CBS Registry Error 0x80070002 Package_for_KB2887069~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64o~6.1.1.# failed to get CurrentState
(f) CBS Registry Error 0x80070002 Package_for_KB2887069~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64o~6.1.1.# failed to get Visibility
(f) CBS MUM Missing 0x00000002 servicing\Packages\Package_for_KB2887069~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64o~6.1.1.#.mum

Note that you attach the Software hive in a private message so nobody else can see the Software hive.

Please advise what you need from the registry for that. I am knowledgable of using the registry.

I found two entries in the registry searching for "Package_for_KB2887069~31bf3856ad364e35" as follows:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageIndex\Package_for_KB2887069~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~0.0.0.1

A fix might not work while the Software hive is active on your system so I prefer to fix it locally here when your Software hive is in-active.
Please do following.

FRST Registry Search
  1. Click the Start button and choose Control Panel.
  2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
  3. Select the Programs group.
  4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Server Manager dialog.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps. You can minimize it if you wish but keep it open.
  5. Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:
64-bit: Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.

  6. Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  7. Copy and paste Package_for_KB2887069~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
  8. When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'SearchReg.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also. Close Notepad and attach the file 'SearchReg.txt' to your next reply.
  9. You may close any remaining open windows now.

This appears to be the same search result as from the (guessed) search I did with regedit...

Re step 4 above: this brings up a Windows Features dialog, with nothing listed. Not a Server Manager dialog. The FRST worked with or without it opened.

BTW... I've found this process interesting, I'll look into the Sysnative Windows Update Academy. As a programmer, I can't help but think that some programming could simplify this process.

I'm psychic. I knew you'd try that next. It doesn't work. I did a little googling, it seems some method of taking ownership is needed. But, not too sure on this.

What method do you use to do it with the SOFTWARE file offline? I can likely do this.

Or alternatively, can we disable that KB somehow? My plan is to install W10 after I get it so it'll actually update.
