[SOLVED] Can't install Defender - 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING

Hi PeterJ,

I just wanted to ask, if there is any way to install Windows Defender on this server?

Thank you for your help so far!

Best regards,

BrewDrew

Please be patient. I'm still working on a fix.

Step 1:
Warning: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Do not run this script on another machine.
  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Attach the logfile Fixlog.txt to your next reply.

Step 2:
Restart the machine.
Open an elevated command prompt.
Copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each.
Code:
sfc /scannow
Wait for this to finish before you continue

Code:
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Zip this file and attach the zipped cbs.txt to your next post.

The latest attachment Fixlog.txt is an old log file, created March 16.
The log file cbs.txt does not show an error so maybe you attached the wrong Fixlog.txt.

Any improvement with Windows Defender ?

Hi PeterJ,

thank you for your reply and sorry you for my mistake with the upload!
I now checked it twice and uploaded the correct Fixlog:

Unfortunately, there is the same error, when we try to install the Windows Defender with the GUI:

Aswell when we try to install it via CLI:

Is there any chance that we can install the Windows Defender on this machine again?

Thank you for your help and best regards,

BrewDrew
