Cbspersist Files Cannot install Win10

If I ever get this corrected, will it eliminate all the unnecessary files it generated?

I don't know what you mean by that.

Concerning the two files you have issues with, follow the instructions below.
  • Open the command prompt as Admin (right-click on it and select Run as Administrator);
  • From there, enter the commands below:
    Code:
    copy C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log "%userprofile%\Desktop"
    copy C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log "%userprofile%\Desktop"
The two files (setupact.log and setuperr.log) should end up on your Desktop.

What I mean by the volume of files generated by this error. As I have said my C:\
partition has risen from about 15GB to abt 59GB since May and is still growing, but slower since no MS updates are being made.

In fact if you read on the net about this situation, people are more concerned about the volume than anything else.

This is because of your .persist.cab files in the CBS folder, right? You can delete them. Just leave the CBS.log be and you can delete the other archives.

Edit: Apparently, your issue lies within the BCD store that you'll have to rebuild.

How To Rebuild the BCD in Windows [10 to 20 Minutes]

Just found your instructions to rebuild the BCD.. My email did not include this.

Anyhow, after all we have been through trying to get win10 installed, I have soured on win10 and want no part of it.

So, if possible, I would like to use the Refresh option and get rid of the clutter for the time being. Maybe at some later date I can install win10.

I have a worry though. My pc is a Dell and it came with the Dell Backup and Recovery installed. This program prevented my use of the Refresh option.
This was pretty useless for me so I finally removed it. So I am not certain the Refresh option will work now.

What do you think? Would the Refresh option accomplish what I want? Please tell me what you think.

I thank you for your time and effort in trying to solve my problem.

Windows 10 offers a downgrade feature that will downgrade you to the version of Windows you upgraded from, if you still have the windows.old folder on your C: drive.

How to Uninstall Windows 10 and Downgrade to Windows 7 or 8.1

Ran into problems trying to correct BCD. I have no Troubleshoot Option in my Advanced Startup.

Have looked all over the net and am unable to find a way to correct this but I am not the only one with this problem.

Trying to find a way to correct the BCD without use of the Troubleshoot option.
How can I do this? Can I use the OS installation CD for this, and if so, how?

Thanks

Aura, Finally was able to get into Troubleshoot by using OS CD. However it did no good because I did not really understand what I was doing. I got their command prompt and typed bootrec /rebuildbcd and it did something and gave me a message Total Identified Windows Installation:1 (1)C:Windows Add Installed to boot list? y/n/all. I typed y and it saidThe Requested Device Cannot be found. I then tried n and got the same message.

By the way, had the Refresh option and I tried it and it said Windows drive was locked, to unlock and try again.

Can you please explain this stuff to me?

Thanks

I lost track of your issue a bit since there was no reply in 15 days. Right now, you're on Windows 8.1 and trying to upgrade to Windows 10, right?
