[SOLVED] Checking for updates stuck - 2012 Standard

I use Level Platforms, AVG, Avast, Barracuda's Managed Workplace to monitor my servers. It implements WSUS like settings in terms where it checks for and retrieves updates. With that said, I've been using the "Check online" link to skip this and use default MS servers.

Can you try using the start menu and the usual Check for Updates way?

Please do the following:

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
6. Try checking for updates again.

I'm seeing the same issue. Running Server 2012 (Not R2), Exchange 2013 CU22. Just started seeing issues in the last couple weeks. Have performed documented Windows Update reset procedures. As of last night, I started seeing the same behavior on another VM with Server 2012 and SQL 2012 installed.

Please open Command Prompt as Administrator and copy paste the following:

cd C:\Windows\System32\wbem\AutoRecover [I]dir /b *.mof *.mfl | findstr /v /i uninstall > moflist.txt & for /F %%s in (moflist.txt) do mofcomp %%s[/I]

Note: Press Enter after each of the commands.

Afterwards, restart the Windows Update service and see if WU works.

So, full disclosure, I did that most recent one first. In my email notification, that was the command listed. I ran that, then kicked off updates. I then just happened to check in on this thread... and on the web side it had that longer command. So... ultimately... I did run the right command about 6 hours ago. It's been checking ever since unsuccessfully.
