[SOLVED] Components Hive may be corrupt

Now we're making progress. Very good. Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Hi Steve -

Unfortunately I have some bad news. Over 3,000 more missing files showed up. This could keep continuing. We fix them and more come up. At this point I think your machine is too damaged to fix manually. The best bet would be to attempt a repair install of the OS. Put the SBS 2008 R2 DVD in and run it to do a repair of the OS. If that doesn't work then a reload would be the only option. I'm not a fan of attempting a repair on a Server OS but if you decide you want to try this, just make sure you have a good backup before doing so in case something goes wrong. I do apologize but this appears to just keep getting worse.

Code:
Summary:
Seconds executed: 9310
 Found 3654 errors
CSI Manifest Missing Total count: 298
CSI Manifest and S256H Do Not Match Total count: 6
CSI Located Replacement: Invalid (S256H) Total count: 108
CSI Payload File Missing Total count: 3350

Thanks for all the help. That's what I thought. We had a drive go bad a while back and had to restore and it just seems to be the issue. I was hoping not to reinstall. Again thanks for all the help

I followed this step by step.I found Components and went to "Unload Hive" but got an error stating I did not have permission even though I am using my Administrative user account. I am,also unable to retrieve Windows Updates.Windows Updates say that NO updates in the history and that it has NEVER received ANY updates . I reformatted this desktop w/Vista Home Basic from factory and then I continued to get hundreds of Updates even SP2 afterwards but that was a year ago. Been in a forum from "England" in which they helped me up my RAM from 1 MB to 2 MG ..and I am attempting to have Windows Updates at least run without the error " Windows Update_80073712" and troubleshoot the CPU running at 100% whenever I play poker on Facebook. I do hope this message finds it way to you. I have the Logfile.PML and the cbs.txt so if you need to see them let me know. MANY THANKS,ScottPS
