[SOLVED] Error 0x800f0906 after unsuccessful Windows 10 update

Hello Aura. So I've temporarily uninstalled my antivirus programs to run the update. I haven't run the update as yet; as I was mentioning earlier, my Internet is slow, so downloading the update each time takes no less than six hours. So I tried a little hacky temporary workaround where I copied the entire installation folder to a backup while the preparation for an upgrade is occurring. I know this means that the errors I get may not be 100% accurate but I've noticed a trend. In browsing through some of the threads on this site, I came across a thread where you asked someone to run MiniToolbox. I downloaded it and did the same out of curiosity to see what errors it would find. I chose the option that listed the last ten event viewer errors. The log file that was produced mentioned failure to update several Windows Store apps. When the upgrade (as in the legit one through Windows Update) failed, the time was 3:05 am. I noticed that some errors having to do with installing the Windows Store apps were at 3:05 am. When I tried my hacky workaround, the same errors popped up at exactly the same time I tried to run the setupprep executable. To further convince me, I opened Windows Store later and tried to update my apps. I noticed the same errors about not being able to update the apps. Then the computer crashed; I wasn't there to see when it crashed but it had frozen up on me, at which point I'd left the room. When I came back, I saw that it was asking me to log in. I'm going to be sending you a log file from MiniToolbox that shows the unexpected shutdown error, as well as the CBS.log, the WindowsUpdate.log, and the setupact and setuperr log files. Thanks again for your help.

Hello Aura. Good news. I fixed the issue and now have Windows 10 installed. I found the answer to my problem in this link:

https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/15984-windows-10-installation-failed.html#post122148

I'd downloaded the forum user's setuperr.log file and noticed that his error messages from trying to install Windows 10 looked almost identical to mine. I'd deleted my Recovery partition a few months back, ironically because it was stopping me from doing a firmware update. Apparently it came back to haunt me, stopping me from doing the Windows 10 upgrade. I followed the link that he posted as giving him the solution to his problem, and this worked for me also.

Thanks a lot for your time and patience in helping me fix my issue! Great forum here!
