Do you plan on upgrading to Windows 10 at any point in the foreseeable future?

Given you do not wish to upgrade to Windows 10, we can continue troubleshooting this issue with your Windows 7 installation. Thank you for your patience throughout - unfortunately, finding a solution is not always a quick and simple process, and requires many steps to troubleshoot.

Please download the installer for KB3097966 and save the file to your Desktop.
Run the installer. If installation of the update fails, please ZIP up and attach or upload the following files:

  • C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
  • C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
  • C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log

Please execute the following command:

  • Click the Windows Start
    29Fou9c.jpg
    button. Type CMD in the search bar, right-click CMD and click
    AVOiBNU.jpg
    Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste (right-click the windows + Paste) the following command into the Command Prompt, and press Enter on your keyboard.

    fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\

  • Close the Command Prompt.
  • Reattempt installation of KB3097966 using the installer saved to your Desktop.

Unfortunately, troubleshooting does not always yield a successful result. We may be looking at a repair install here, as the source of this issue has still yet to be determined.

Please carry out the instructions below. If nothing of use comes from the following then a repair install is likely to be the next best option.

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) Script

  • Download View attachment Fixlist.txt and save the file to your Desktop.
  • Important: The file must be saved in the same location as FRST64.exe.
NOTICE: This script is intended for use on this particular machine. Do not use this script on any other machine; doing so may cause damage to your Operating System.

  • Right-Click FRST64.exe and select
    AVOiBNU.jpg
    Run as administrator     to run the programme.
  • Click Fix.
  • A log (Fixlog.txt) will open on your desktop. Copy the contents of the log and paste in your next reply.

These, updates that still fails.
I changed PC, but without reinstalling windows, only moving Hard disk.
All is working ok but the problem still there....
There is a way to reinstall without loosing settings, programs, etc.?
Now, at this stage, what I have to do ?

At this point in time, we are unfortunately left with limited options. A repair install is likely to be the next best course of action. You can find instructions on how to perform a repair install below. A repair install will not remove your programmes, but it is advisable to backup personal data such as document and media files beforehand.

Ok. I made a repair install whitout loosing nothing.
Then l tried again windows update and when switching off it tried to install 214 updates, but when I switched on again it says uninstall updates due to updates problems, do not switch off pc.
I looked on installad updates and quite all failed with error code 800705B4 different from previouses. Let me know what to do now.

I used the tool for repairing Widnws Update suggested by Windows guide for error code 800705B4 and after restarting I retried again to update.
This time updates arrived and have been installed correctly.
I used Windows update several times for installing all important updates and also some suggested updates and now it appears working correctly.
Thanks to all for your extended help in this case.
