having Issues getting corrupted files replaced.

whatever we did lately helped an extent because I have not been able to right click on and icon to run it. The latest changes allows me to right click on something and run it as an admin. It still says that indexer / Search is not running in the search in the control panel.

This is probably a red Herring. I think that it is strange that there are so many copies of "searchfilterhost.exe" on my computer ( I have 12 of them). I get the fact that there could be 3 but 12 doesnt make sense to me unless windows update just replaces copies and leaves the old copies on the computer and disabled.

Below I looked at a windows 7 x64 machine that has gathering manager file location on it and the second set is my computer windows x64 8.1. Effectively they are the same except the variance from the directory of win 7 vs win 8.1. Im wondering if there is an issue that could be the cause that I am missing. Probably not.

Then when I look in Services.msc I dont see the registry running Searchfilterhost at all at least in services.

I know that this is for windows 10 but I have seen the same for 8.1. I am still looking for the 8.1 website.
Here is another one that says that it needs to be set to zero and it is in reference to windows 8.1.
Indexing is greyed out

abbreviation of details:
Method 2:

a. Open the Start Menu.
b. In the white line (Start Search) area, type regedit and press Enter.
c. If prompted, click on Continue in the UAC prompt.
d. In regedit, go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search
e. In the right pane, right click on SetupCompletedSuccessfully and click on Modify.
NOTE: If SetupCompletedSuccessfully is not there, then in the right pane, right click on empty area and click on New and DWORD (32 bit) Value. Type SetupCompletedSuccessfully and press Enter.
f. Type 0 and click on OK.

NOTE: This is the number zero.

Don't worry. I have 33.

The registry settings for Windows 8.1 are the correct ones.

Already present and set at 0 in your registry.

Is it possible to work on the directory issues like the one that shows several files nested within the same files or does it make sense to complete the indexing issue first?

Thank you for your help. I eventually got so frustrated with my operating system that I did what in the win 95/98, XP, Vista, 7 days was called an in place upgrade. I lost a lot of data but I can probably recreate most of it. I have a WD my cloud and was so frustrated that I forgot to backup my harddrive. Thank you again for your help and I will donate again for all of your work.

Your welcome. Some corruptions are hard to fix or impossible to fix. We tried a lot but still no success.
Thanks for your donation. (y)
