having Issues getting corrupted files replaced.

I am spitballing ideas.
1. We looked at services dependencies needed to run indexing. They are still on the system & running.
A. Is it possible that the windows searchindexing (file 8.1a) file was updated by windows update to searchindexing (8.1b) and then corrupted removed & reinstalled w/SFC or the DISM WIM to 8.1a searchindexing (8.1a) because WIM or SFC had an outdated searchindexing Is there software that I can run that checks to make sure that the operating system has all the correct files that work with each other?
I have used WSUS Autopatcher Portable Update Windows Updates Downloader (WUD) on other computers and as I recall each worked well but just installed windows updates that were missing or corrupted. I think that I may need to remove and replace files that are not working.

B. It is possible that the indexing file is sufficiently corrupted enough to show as present but it is not functioning? Possibly SFC or DISM is replacing the corrupted file with the same corrupted file?

2. Is it possible that searchindexing is not working with its system file dependencies? Possibly the dependencies are the wrong version or corrupted and not working with searchindexer?

The file searchindexer.exe on your system is valid and is the correct one. It is running sometimes but I see no traces of the command to start the service WSearch which I asked for.
SFC should report a problem if a system file is invalid or missing.

  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

I apologize if you asked for this and I did not provide it. I had so many issues just right clicking on anything and getting it to run that I must have gotten side tracked. It seems like I have to run checkdisk almost every time that windows fails and I need to do a non corrupting shutdown with a restart.

I accidneta,ly used the fix list that was on my desktop from the 24th. I am running it again now with the fixlist from the 29th.

I ran this by running farbar scan tool and I had fixlist on the desktop from today. Addition.txt was selected in Farbar. It produced the Frst.txt file and additon file. I would imagine that you wanted me to run it without addition selected so I will go back and do that. I seem to be tired today which is making it difficult to think clearly.

I didn't ask for a scan with FRST.
Please perform the instructions in message #122 as I asked earlier.

It wont run so i have been having to run it from the command line. I am running it in an elevated command line prompt. I think that is why I cannot seem to follow the instructions. Anyway it ran on an elevated command prompt. I selected fix and the file was on the desktop. Here are the results.

I could not run it from a right click and select an elevated prompt so I used an elevated command prompt and ran it. AT several points it looked like windows was hanging so during running the software. It looks like it completed.

Restart the machine.
Check Windows Search and report the result.
If it fails perform a new scan with FRST64.exe. When completed attach the log files FRST.txt and Addition.txt to your next reply.

Why is the program UVK (Ultra Virus Killer) recently used ?

I use it to run checkdsk whn the search issue makes windows hang. I also use it to run sfc /scannow and I run it for DISM to make sure that the files being checked are not corruptted and current.

I also use Tweaking to run chkdsk on both disks C and D. I use Tweaking to make a backup of my registry. I do not use the other functions of tweaking because they seem like they are likely to cause issues with the registry.
