HDD and settings errors?

I recently got help with a Malwarebytes issue, which has been resolved. I had to run security check by glax24 just to check if everything was up to date.
Im wondering if there’s a way to get rid of SecurityCheck files. Iirc kprm was able to do that?
Ill also state that I never ran any fixes or anything, just security check.

I see.
are there any particular instructions I should follow.
for example, should I have it delete my restore points while it creates a new one?

The following tool will remove the tools used as well as reset system restore points (= delete previous restore points and create a new):

Download KpRm by kernel-panik and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click kprm_(version).exe and select Run as Administrator.
  • Read and accept the disclaimer.
  • When the tool opens, ensure all boxes under Actions are checked.
  • Under Delete Quarantines select Delete Now, then click Run.
  • Once complete, click OK.
  • A log will open in Notepad titled kprm-(date).txt.
  • You can delete it later.

Thank you!
I meant to reply earlier, but ive been busy and forgetting a lot of stuff as a result.
havent done much on my computer either

Unfortunately, I ended up hurting myself, so I haven’t really been able to interact much with anything. Still need to update my GPU a driver again. wish there was an option to automatically download updates without installing GeForce experience.
Got startled by something in the task manager when I was closing Firefox, since it and a ”wmi“ task closed at the same time. Couldve been a coincidence, but still. I normally open task manager when closing Firefox since I like to make sure it’s fully closed before I turn off my PC.

Is it possible to accidently turn on the PC by clicking the mouse, or pressing keys on the keyboard?
whenever I have my PC connected to the power, but not turned on, I try to avoid doing that, but I accidently did it today, since Ive been having difficulty moving my wrist. It didnt power on, but for some reason I’m under the assumption I could mess something up by doing that.

I was wondering, whenever you plug in a piece of hardware, can windows potentially download broken drivers or malicious drivers or something depending on the hardware.
Mainly asking, because one time I installed a nvidia GPU driver update, and my microphone stopped working in Discord (unless this was a discord issue, I’m not sure) Maybe this happened because I checked the box which was to clean install and erase previous settings, though it could’ve been Discord. I switched the ports it was plugged into, and it worked fine after that iirc I can’t remember exactly.

i guess I just want to avoid having windows re-download the same drivers or whatever

Windows will use generic drivers, which with GPU isn't the best. With the GPU, it's a fallback driver for when you haven't installed any drivers (yet) so you can still see the screen and download the GPU driver.

The chance of Windows downloading broken or malicious drivers is nihil, there's an extensive list of tests that drivers from Windows Update and other WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) signed drivers must go through that's known as the Windows Hardware Lab Kit which is a test framework. This test framework tests drivers on different platforms and configurations to see if the driver is compatible with different versions of Windows.

When I install the GPU driver, I always make sure I'm not doing anything with display or audio to avoid problems with things like what you mentioned.

I see. I have a nvidia card, so I download the drivers from their website for it.
Maybe it was Discord that messed up last time, since that application has a whole host of problems it seems. When I download the next nvidia driver update, I was planning on performing a clean install. Hopefully the mic thing doesn’t happen again.

Also I was wondering, is it today that’s the update day for Windows, or is it next Tuesday?

I see, thank you!
I updated my GPU driver today, but I feel like I should’ve waited, since it broke some windows transparency effects, like my taskbar is completely black now instead of being grey. Apparently there’s a hot fix coming, but it’s a pain to have to go the the website and download the driver update. It’s that, or you install their bloatware to download it from the app.

So I updated today, and the update seems to have installed Remote Desktop connection, though I’m on home edition so I can’t use it. Wondering if I should uninstall it or leave it.

It’s been a long while, but I wanted to ask, in regards to the error when installing the KB5034441 security update, has a date for the fix been announced?
Wondering if there’s a way to get notified as to when.

Ah, I’m sorry, I never saw this. I haven’t done it, and I’m a bit scared to in case I accidentally mess something up.
im wondering if I can avoid using the script, and if this issue will be fixed with the patch tomorrow?

I see.
If I weren’t to hide the update, would that affect the big cumulative update in any way?
I haven’t been on the computer much since I’ve been incredibly busy for the past few months unfortunately

When you hide KB5034441 is does not affect the monthly Cumulative Updates. However, Microsoft has also updated the page with information about this update.

Microsoft said:
NOTE If your running PC does not have a WinRE recovery partition, you do not need this update.

Otherwise, you'll need to increase the recovery partition if it does not have the required free space to install this update. But, it is recommended to create a full system image first before enlarging the recovery partition.
