HDD and settings errors?

ah, I just saw this now and havent been active on my computer for a week.
did the latest cumulative update fix this issue?
hoping it did, since I don’t like tinkering with stuff, and I never hid the update, so I’m hoping when I get the time, i can install the latest cumulative update without having to worry about that update error causing any interference.

Hi,

did the latest cumulative update fix this issue?

No, and you should note that there is a difference between Cumulative Updates (LCUs) and specific (OOB) updates like KB5034441.

KB5034441 is being rolled out as an "Windows Recovery Environment" update which is not a part of the monthly LCU's - it's only a separate (security) update for the WinRE partition.
See also this link: KB5034441: Windows Recovery Environment update for Windows 10, version 21H2 and 22H2: January 9, 2024 - Microsoft Support

so I’m hoping when I get the time, i can install the latest cumulative update without having to worry about that update error causing any interference.

Yes, you can install the latest Cumulative Update and ignore the failure for KB5034441.

Note: If you are worried about doing something wrong, please make always a full backup (system image) first, so you can always restore the system with that mage.

Thank you for the answer. Decided to update and everything went fine it seems. Though I noticed the latest update added something called aggregatorhost.exe, so I’m wondering what that is. I saw it running in the task manager which is how I found out about it.

AggregatorHost.exe is a legit process that is a part of the 'Connected User Experiences and Telemetry' (DiagTrack) service which is being used to collect data form the operating system.

Below the description as shown in services.msc.
The Connected User Experiences and Telemetry service enables features that support in-application and connected user experiences. Additionally, this service manages the event driven collection and transmission of diagnostic and usage information (used to improve the experience and quality of the Windows Platform) when the diagnostics and usage privacy option settings are enabled under Feedback and Diagnostics.
As far as I know, this process is used for several essential parts of Windows like Windows Update, Windows Defender etc. And when AggregatorHost.exe is loaded under svchost.exe it also functions as a sort of 'heart-beat-monitor' while updating the system for example.

Thank you!
I’ve not been home much, but I decided today to gather some logs, because my paranoia had been acting up. When I checked, I noticed there was another Edge extension titled “Google docs offline” or something along those lines
I’m not sure when that showed up, or how long it’s been there, but it couldn’t have been me that installed it, since I only use Firefox. Was wondering if it’s a normal thing that was a part of a windows update? I know chrome had it by default iirc.

I also wanted to ask if it was mandatory to keep copilot, or if I could uninstall it, since I don’t really have a use for it.

Wondering if anyone else has encountered any freezing with the most recent cumulative update?
I encountered a few today for some reason, specifically the start and search button’s weren’t being responsive. Maybe it was Malwarebytes, since it seems like it froze when I was dismissing the scheduled scan results.
I do remember last week, the start menu encountered an error and stopped working too. I took a picture of it.

i forgot to attach the image. I don’t know if this is a cause for concern, because I couldn’t tell it had stopped working and only found out when I checked the reliability monitor.
It’s also been showing me that windowsupdate (svchost.exe_wuauserv) has been crashing since the latest windows update.
No idea what this could be since I’ve been keeping everything up to date, and haven’t had any other problems.
Maybe it’s because I’ve not been active on the computer (it’s been once a week I’ve turned it on until Friday or Saturday)
I’ve also not downloaded a thing except automatic updates for software I’ve had installed (Malwarebytes, steam, windows services, etc)

Was going to update Firefox today, but I’m going to hold off for now, since things have been messing up. Windows update once again crashed like I described in that last post, and when trying to download the newest security intelligence update (version 1.411.439.0) it’s stuck on downloading or installing, but it says it’s been installed under the windows security menu?
In the windows update screen it flickered between downloading and installing multiple times, and it alarmed me.
EDIT: After two restarts, it seems to have installed it, but I’m still concerned and have no idea what’s wrong.

I checked for updates again and it was stuck on the searching for windows update loop again. Waited a while and turned off the PC. Might check again later, but this is annoying me.

Hi,

Many of your recent questions aren't related to the original problem.

Please create a new thread for any problems or questions you have that aren't related to the original question. This applies to any future thread as well.

Okay, I’ll do that.
Where should I take this question though?
A topic under windows 10, or would this go under windows update?

Issues with Windows Update can be posted in the Windows Update forum. :-)
