[SOLVED] KB5036909 fails continuously with 0x800f081f on Windows Server 2022 Standard

Hi,

You're welcome. Several registry keys and their associated files were missing, so replacing them from a woking server was the solution.

:(

Looks like the next months WU has brought the problem back again:

I'll do the reboot as soon as the server can have some down time and try again, and then post the logs.

@Maxstar - hope you can help look at these logs to see why the August WU wouldn't work after you got the July ones to work.

Hi,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

As requested. (Strangely - I had to give my Domain Administrator user READ access to this file to be able to ZIP it)

That looks like it fixed it.
More missing reg/system files was it?
