Can you try to run SFC in Safe Mode, and upload the CBS.log here after?

I generated the one above by booting from the Windows installation CD and going a command prompt. If I recall correctly, if I try and boot in safe mode I get continuous blue screen reboots. Will booting in safe mode generate a different CBS.log file?

Sorry - I got confused, the above was in reference to how I got the "components" file. I'll give it a shot.

Something in my previous CBS.log file didn't look right so I ran it again (via the Windows installation disk boot-up). It again said it wasn't able to fix all of the errors. The latest CBS.log file is attached.

Alright, now please boot back in normal mode, then run SFC again and upload the CBS.log here after.

When I try running sfc /scannow in an administrative command prompt window, I get "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.". This has been going on for quite some time. I've checked the following, based on search results about this problem:

* Background Intelligent Transfer Service is Started, with Automatic (Delayed Start) startup type
* Windows Module Installer is Started, with Manual Startup Type

Any ideas where to go from here?

Can you upload the CBS.log after running the SFC command? I'll try to see if I can find what's making it hang.

Can I boot from a Windows installation CD and run this from a command prompt? If I remember correctly, I'm concerned that trying to reboot in safe mode might get me into a continuous reboot cycle. I think my only out was to to a disk restore from backup.

No joy in trying to boot to safe mode. Without a Windows installation CD in the drive I get a BSOD. With the CD in, booting into safe mode with networking just brings up the Install Windows screen (but it does show it's in safe mode). The BSOD is caused by driver ntkrnlpa.exe, file version 6.1.7601.23418 (win7sp1_ldr.160408-2045), bug check string PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

Any idea where to go from here?

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA is often associated with bad sectors on the drive. I'll be monitoring your BSOD thread to see what comes out of it.
