Uninstall Adobe Shockwave Player 12.0 as this product is no longer supported by Adobe.
Uninstall AVG AntiVirus FREE.
Reboot the machine and try to install SP1 again.
If it fails attach the zipped cbs,log to your next reply.

Hi Peter I uninstalled as requested and more or less the same result. I have attached two Snips as well as the cbs logs. I also tried a manual update to Sp1 which I downloaded from MajorGeeks site also didn't work that is why there are two snips attached in png format. Here is the strange thing there is no snipping tool which should activated through Ctrl Panel, Programs and features, windows features on and off just before telnet client the next item should be Tablet PC Optional Components but is missing so will assume their are components missing from my windows program as well and or corrupted.

Regards

Gareth

You are using Windows 7 Basic. The snipping tool is not installed on Windows 7 Basic.

On your last screenshot (snip3.jpg) click the link and post a screenshot of the result.

Hi I have attached snip4 the result of clicking on the link it takes you to Microsoft and there isn't much or any help trying to understand what is missing.

Check for Windows Updates and post a screenshot of the available important updates.

Still get the same error when I run windows update and most updates from Microsoft Update catalog give me not applicable for your computer and a few give invalid signature errors and if I run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth I get error 87. so i really dont know what to do further as it would seem there is no way to fix these errors which is stopping me from updating windows 7 on this laptop.
