[SOLVED] Problem with SFC and Windows Update

That is very odd indeed. I don't really have an explanation.

The good news is that worked! We're past those corruptions. I did find one more and fixed.

Code:
2016-03-13 13:59:02, Error CSI 00000004 (F) Unable to parse identity version: [l:11]"4.0.90586.0"

1. Reboot your machine.
2. See if you can delete C:\Windows\System32\Config\COMPONENTS
3. If you can, then take the most recent COMPONENTS file from here and simply copy/paste it into this location. Make sure you unzip the file so that you paste the actual file and not the zip file.
4. If you are able to do this then please go ahead and run sfc /scannow again and post the resulting log like you have in the past.

SFC completed but found corrupt files unable to repair. Display driver stopped working but recovered.

Excellent. This should fix all but one which we need to address after. Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

SFC Scan
1. Right-click on the Start
w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
sfc /scannow

3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter.
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Right-click on this file and choose Send To...Compressed (zipped folder). Please upload this zipped file CBS.zip to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

The last corruption that is shown is opencl.dll. It's a known issue. Please review the following article. If you still wish to resolve then you can follow the instructions in the article.

Hi Brian,

I followed the instructions in the guide and it looks like everything is OK. System File Checker ran successfully without finding any integrity violations. Windows Update ran successfully and is now up-to-date. The Windows Features dialog appears to be working properly.

I did have a problem running DISM to verify that opencl.dll was indeed corrupt. It ran to completion but gave me an error message - "Error: 0x800f081f The source files could not be found." I decided to ignore it and just run SFCFix as in the remainder of the guide.

As I understand it, the opencl.dll problem might reoccur if my graphics driver gets updated, unless Microsoft or Nvidia issue a permanent fix. But if I have a further problem with opencl.dll, I should be able to fix it again myself using the instructions in your guide.

I am enormously grateful to you for the tremendous amount of time and effort that you expended tracking down the corruptions on my computer.
