[SOLVED] Problems to update win 7

Uninstall .NET 5.0.6 and check if .NET 5.0.5 installs successfully.

Hi Peter,

After that i run your script the upgrade hint icon showed up. After a while it disappeared and when i was looking for .NET 5.0.6 among installed software it was gone and replaced with .NET 5.0.7 and .NET 5.0.5 was also there (see attached picture). Your script was the magic wand. I have been checking if there is any upgrades by running the upgrade check it said that everything is up to date and no further upgrade is known:-).

I think your script was a game changer. What do you think? Should i run the checksurpack.exe and try it?

Kind Regards
Pär

I forgot the picture, sorry

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the delay, but i have been away for some work.

I have been running the CHKDSK command and it went smooth with out anything strange. I had some problem to get it to start and that was because of the login screen but after i turned that of everything went smooth.

I was running just chkdsk with out any option after. The attached file is the result of that.

Kind Regards
Pär

The result looks normal. Please run chkdsk as instructed in my previous message.

Hi Peter,
I wasn't precise when i told you that i did run CHKDSK C: /F which i did and there wasn't any problem. However i did run it again and went to the event viewer and i copied the result to a textfile. I took both tabs General and Detail. I couldn't find any way to print it out from the event viewer so that is the reason for copying the text to a text files.

I hope it can give you some info.
Kind Regards
Pär

The following might take several hours to complete. You can do it overnight if you like.

Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories.
Right-click on Command-prompt and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards.

Code:
chkdsk c: /f /r
At the question "Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)", press Y.
Restart the system.

Do not press any key during the restart. This will allow CHKDSK to start.
Wait for this to complete. Please note that this may take several hours. Let it run even if it looks like the process has stopped!
On completion, the system will restart automatically.

Try to run the CheckSurpackage again and report the result.

Hi Peter,

I tried to run CheckSurpackage but unfortunately the result is the same as before. It is strange because other application can be installed normally.

When visit the Microsoft Update Catalog catalog site there is a button for downloading the correct tool for the system that you have. When clicking on the download button a new window appears with a list with exe and one msu file including CheckSurpackage.exe. (See attached picture)
What i wonder is if i should download each and every one of the exe and msu files and installling them one by one in order? or if that is a dead end.

Kind Regards
Pär
