[SOLVED] Problems with Windows 8.1

It seems like I need your permission to download this file. Is it possible to have the public download URL for it please?

Suzy, just so I know, do you intend to upgrade to Windows 10? If so, when?

Hallo Aura

do you think that would solve the problem? I could it is not a problem? I just heard that it still have many glitches?

S

The thing is that my teacher needs to review my fix before I post it (your fix is done), however if you are to upgrade to Windows 10, he won't need to take the time to go through it, since all your issues with Windows Updates and system files will be solved as you upgrade to Windows 10. Hence why I'm inquiring of that before. If you want to upgrade now, I'll help you with that, if you don't, we'll go ahead with the fix. Sorry, I should have asked you that first thing in the thread.

Windows 10 can be downloaded and installed from the Media Creation Tool.

Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help

From there you have two options: upgrade the computer directly with the first option proposed by the Media Creation Tool, or use it to download the Windows 10 .iso locally to create a bootable installation media to use on another computer. However, if you download the Windows 10 .iso, you can still mount it on your system, and launch the upgrade process via setup.exe. So you have two upgrade paths.

At this point, this is "normal". I think I even know what the corruption is but, upload your C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log file for me please so I can review it :)

    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.
