[SOLVED] server 2008 R2 SP1 win update give error 80070002

Hi,
now i can browse the key :
HKLM\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_microsoft-windows-ie-devtools.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_en-us_8d93b54f83703b2a\v!8.0.7600.16385

But sfc /scannow still give the same error and windows update too

I'm still seeing the same error on COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_microsoft-windows-ie-devtools.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_en-us_8d93b54f83703b2a\v!8.0.7600.16385

Can you double check that it is accessible?

If possible, change the permissions on the key:

Modify Registry Permissions

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type regedit
  2. When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  3. In the left hand panel of regedit, you will see a list of registry keys. Navigate to the following key, right-click on it and select Permissions...:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_microsoft-windows-ie-devtools.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_en-us_8d93b54f83703b2a\v!8.0.7600.16385

  4. Click Advanced.
  5. Under the Owner tab, click Edit.
  6. Click "Other Users and Groups".
  7. Click Advanced.
  8. Click "Find Now".
  9. Scroll down and double click on Everyone.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Put the check in "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects", click Apply then change to the Permissions tab.
  12. Under type Deny, single click on any entries and click Remove. (N.B.: There may not be any Deny entries, in which case just ignore this step. Just remove any that do exist)
  13. Click Edit (now on the standard file Property window under the Security tab).
  14. Click Add.
  15. Click Advanced.
  16. Click "Find Now".
  17. Scroll down and double click on Everyone.
  18. Click OK.
  19. Single click on Everyone and then tick the "Full Control" box under Allow.
  20. Click OK TWO times.

I can't change the permissions.
The error message is :
The requested security information is either unavailable or can't be displayed

If i want to create a key in it the error message is
Cannot create key. The system cannot find the key specified. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_microsoft-windows-ie-devtools.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_en-us_8d93b54f83703b2a\v!8.0.7600.16385

Everything is ok for the two others key in :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_microsoft-windows-ie-devtools.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_en-us_8d93b54f83703b2a

Thanks for your help

It's done.
Now sfc /scannow work (wih errors)
Code:
C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
Windows update is now trying to install "new Windows Update software" it failed with error 800F081F

I ran SURT who completed without errors.
Attached are CBS.log and CheckSUR.log in logs.zip

I restarted the computer but no change.

Thanks again

Hi,

I installed WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6-x64.exe and after that updates worked.
I installed several of them but it stucked again on the last 10 updates :

I can see why that is.

SURT isn't detecting any other problems, so let's stick with SFC for now.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please zip and attach this to your next post.

The message from SFCFix is expected because we deleted the key, so it can't restore the permissions for that key.

Looks like SFC is happy. Try to install one of the updates and then when it fails zip and upload CBS.log.

Try installing one of the updates, then when it fails zip CBS.log and upload it to a file sharing service such as OneDrive, DropBox, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

Is KB3080149 listed in installed updates? If so, try to uninstall it and then check for updates again.

KB3080149 is one of the failing updates :

I'll get back to you.
